Just had another amazing weekend teacher assisting for an Upledger CranioSacral level 1 class. This time, it was assisting Fred Stahlman, P.T., CST-D.
Fred was my very first instructor and also facilitated my certification testing back in 2022. I absolutely LOVE how much CranioSacral and SomatoEmotional Release Therapy has not only upgraded my personal life but also my professional practice. Just the other day, a couple clients noticed a shift in higher frequency and “warmer” hands during their sessions.

The feeling you get from celebrating WITH clients who had amazing breakthroughs in their sessions. THIS is what I absolutely LOVE about CranioSacral... and specifically SomatoEmotional Release Therapy! These sessions EMPOWER the individual to heal themselves... be it physical, emotional, mental... be it recent and/or deep-seated pain, tension, stress, anxiety, etc. I just received another text message today and am so honored to be of service in this way! 🥰

Different parts of the brain play different roles in our health and wellness. A simple example is MacLean’s Triune Brain Model. We have the Neocortex for higher cognitive and reasoning functions, the Limbic System for emotions and memory, and then the R-Complex for basic survival functions like breathing, heartrate, etc.
CranioSacral and SomatoEmotional Release Therapy works with all of those levels from assisting in the gentle release of pain and tension, to releasing physical and emotional stress and trauma.

What do you do when you get slight sinus congestion and a cough in the middle of summer? Besides the neti pot, colloidal silver, zinc, bee propolis spray, etc... I have been using Wisdom Of The Earth Mugwort essential oil to move the stuck energy and Reiki for my self-care. Mikao Usui, who developed Reiki, saw it as a form of self-improvement and self-healing. Using my background in CranioSacral, I have been using Reiki and focusing on listening to my body to release some of the neck muscles (infrahyoids, retrohyoids, suprahyoids, etc) and osseous restrictions involving the sphenoid, ethmoid, nasal, occipital cranial base, etc.)

From birth, your tongue is actually connected to your toes through an intricate network of connective tissue known as fascia.

If your tongue is not resting correctly in your mouth due to mouth breathing, things can get out of alignment in your mouth and the rest of your body.
Tongue posture can lead to a foot imbalance and vice versa because the tongue guides all myofascial continuity structures that run from the inner arch of the foot up through the middle of the body to the tongue and jaw muscles.

When the tongue sits on top of the palate, it seals the oral cavity and holds the throat open like a tent. These muscles support the neck, keep your posture straight, help you breathe, and maintain your posture upright.
Your tongue also acts as a rudder and support system through a fascial line, and when the tongue is down, we breathe through our mouth, and the head falls forward due to lack of support, which leads to poor posture and increased energy expenditure.

So many of us can get stuck in our heads, sometimes resulting in headaches, TMJ, neck pain, etc.
A simple and FREE technique you can do anytime and anywhere, is to simply PAUSE… take a deep inhale through your nose, as you feel your lungs expand with oxygen… pause and hold for 4 seconds… then exhale out the mouth, as you soften your face, feel your body decompress, and release any residual physical or emotional tension!

Had the honor of teacher assisting over the weekend for a CranioSacral Therapy Introduction course at the American Massage Therapy Association Ohio Convention.
I absolutely LOVE CranioSacral Therapy, both from a therapist and client perspective. It has really helped my body release pain, tension, and stress (including emotional.)
