How often when you are sharing information, an opinion, a belief or value do you start your sentence with “in my experience…”, or “from what I have observed…”, or “in the information I have gathered…” ?

I’ve noticed that by bringing this into conversation with others that it has helped, if nothing else, to keep reminding myself that most things we feel, believe and value are relative to my experience. It is one tool I use to keep me open to hearing how others may believe, value and think differently than myself - supporting not only my work as a therapist, but as a human.

Why might this or might not this be important to you, in your experience? 😊

Doing my best to be choiceful of my language. Refraining from making a statement such as yoga IS inquiry, as I (very) slowly learn that yoga is so so so much more than any one word can describe.

And yet, inquiry seems to be an aspect that touches upon so many parts of this work/lifestyle/way of being and perceiving.

I recently started a journey as a part of an amazing cohort led by the generous , taking a new step into studentship with many thoughtful others. 2 weeks in and I have already learned so much.

The first day that I met with this group, yoga and inquiry were united in a sentence so simply and open endedly, I didn’t know if I needed to cry, laugh or throw a fit.

Yoga is so much more than I can imagine, so much more than I will ever understand in my lifetime, and still, now, starting to guide my experiences as a human and a “therapist” in ways that feel genuinely supportive (in a challenging, wtf how is this so beautiful and difficult at the same time kind of way).

I am in a kind of glorious, disquieting wonder of it all. And we go on.
