We’ve all said something negative to ourselves in our head or even out loud. Sometimes it’s in a joking manner and sometimes it’a not. It’s not always about going from a negative thought to a positive, it’s about taking one step at a time. Reframing what you said to something more neutral and factual. Maybe that’s as far as you can get and that’s okay. That’s still progress! So try it out! Next time you say something to yourself that’s negative or unhelpful, try to reframe it. The more you notice and actively change your conversation the other yourself, the more you’ll see the positives in everything instead of the negatives. 🧡

Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Ephesians 6:18 (NLT)

🙏🏼

When it comes to prayer, oftentimes as believers and athletes, we can take it for granted. Prayer is a mental skill in oneself. God knew what He was doing to keep the line of communication open with His children. Prayer can help you do many things as children and athletes in Christ. It can help you 👇🏻

🙏🏼Keep your focus or maintain focus during stressful circumstances.
🙏🏼Build awareness of your surroundings and those outside yourself.
🙏🏼Pull the pressure away from you and allow God to take it on since He is more than able.
🙏🏼Release control over everything that isn’t within your control.
🙏🏼Strengthen your trust in God and yourself through the Spirit.
🙏🏼Reinforces neural pathways to think of what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable.

And so much more!

Prayer is a powerful tool and gift we have been given by the Lord. 🩵

“Those who live in the shelter of the Most High will find rest in the shadow of the Almighty. This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; he is my God, and I trust him. For he will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease. He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection. Do not be afraid of the terrors of the night, nor the arrow that flies in the day. Do not dread the disease that stalks in darkness, nor the disaster that strikes at midday. Though a thousand fall at your side, though ten thousand are dying around you, these evils will not touch you. Just open your eyes, and see how the wicked are punished. If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter, no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home. For he will order his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will hold you up with their hands so you won’t even hurt your foot on a stone. You will trample upon lions and cobras; you will crush fierce lions and serpents under your feet! The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭91‬:‭1‬-‭16‬ ‭NLT‬‬

When you think of resting and trusting in the LORD, what does that look like? Trusting in and resting in are two very different yet important aspects of obedience to God. Trusting in God can look like, surrendering your agenda at His feet and instead, picking up His will for you. It can look like people around you thinking the decision you’re about to make (because the Spirit led you to) looks foolish when THEY are in fact the fools. Resting in God can look similar since it involves surrender. Letting go of what is not and will never be in your control. Resting physically if needed yes, however more like anchoring your spirit in prayer and your identity in Christ.

Whatever these look like to you, know that God has already won the fight so trust and rest in HIM who is able 💛

I've been re-reading the creation story recently and I am in awe of how the Holy Spirit chooses to reveal different things to you about God and His character at different times of reflection and intimacy with Him. I've recently been touched by the revelations and wanted to share them for the purpose that one of these would resonate with your spirit right now. I believe this season has been extremely sweet as I am in the valley and yearn more and more for God's presence with me.

5 Things the creation story taught me about God's character:

1. "God has always had a PURPOSE and a PLAN for His creation." -When you read through the creation story, you clearly see how everything God created has been designed on purpose with a means to move forward in this world.

2. "God has been PROVIDING for us since the very beginning!"- It's hard to miss how God has literally given ALL we've ever needed to us since the beginning. Whether that was an actual place to inhabit all the way to a world that would work to reap and sow for itself without issues. These pictures of provision helped me to confirm not only God's provision but also his FAITHFULNESS! If He provided then, He will surely provide now, even after the fall!

3. "God's GOODNESS was His original plan, not pain." -God never had pain in mind. Now I'm not saying when the fall happened it through Him for a loop and He had no plan for it. Quite the opposite actually. God has LITERALLY been GOOD from the beginning regardless of what has and will happen. He created ALL good things, and a VERY GOOD thing (Us). Everything He creates is good despite the influence sin might seem to have.

4. "God created HUMANS in His image. Not other creatures."- This one took me a second to realize that's exactly what I just read. I went back to see if this was true anywhere else in the creation story and I didn't find it. WE, US, Humans, Male, Female, WE are created in God's image. We don't 'reflect' His image, were created IN His image.

5. "Rest isn't just a nice benefit to being human, it's SACRED worship."- God resting shows me that it's not just a physical desire and need but even more of a spiritual one. Not just sleep but Selah.

September is National Su***de Prevention Month. Today, we recognize World Su***de Prevention Day to raise awareness, honor the lives of those lost to su***de, and break the stigma around mental health and su***de.

Nearly 800,000 lives are lost to su***de each year, making it the leading cause of death among people ages 15-29. Look for the signs, listen, and open conversations about mental health. Together, we can break the silence, search for hope, and remind each other that every life is worth fighting for.

At Golden Hour Bake House, we extend our love and support as we honor Su***de Prevention Month. If you or someone you know is in crisis, dial 988 in the U.S. to connect immediately with the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline. Help is available. ***depreventionmonth ***depreventionday

FAITH FRIDAYS! ☀️

I am bringing these back since I've been a little MIA on Faith Fridays. I recently read this passage a few days ago when a meditation I listen to had me meditate on it. I couldn't help but to reflect and read it in different translations. I chose not to pick one or two verses since it's a passage of gratitude, thankfulness, and reverence.

David speaks about the beautiful characteristics of God as merciful, forgiving, compassionate, loving, gracious, a guard, guide, and faithful. I specifically picked out the words 'He releases my feet' as a marker to show all of these characteristics. Let this passage be a loud declaration and a gentle reminder of God's love and intention for you, his child. Meditate on this passage and sit in His presence. It will surely 'release your feet' from whatever snare you're currently sitting in.
