Louisiana Medicaid Plan Changes (2025)

📌 Why is my Medicaid plan changing?

Louisiana Medicaid did not renew its contract with UnitedHealthcare (UHC) and has partially reversed its decision about Aetna Better Health. Some members will stay with Aetna; others will be moved to new plans.

📌 Is UnitedHealthcare (UHC) still a Medicaid plan in Louisiana?

No. UHC will no longer participate as a Louisiana Medicaid plan for the upcoming coverage period.

📌 Is Aetna Better Health staying?

Partially.
Aetna will continue for some members, but not all.
You may still be reassigned to a different plan depending on your eligibility group.

📌 Will this affect my mental health services?

Possibly.
Different Medicaid plans have different provider networks.
You may need to verify that Priority Psychiatric Services is in-network with the plan you are reassigned to.

📌 How will I know if my plan is changing?

You will receive a letter or notice from Louisiana Medicaid telling you:
• if your plan is ending
• what plan you’re being moved to
• when the change starts

📌 What should I do if I’m unsure about my coverage?

Louisiana Medicaid Customer Service - 1-888-342-6207
✔ check if your current plan is changing
✔ review your Medicaid notice
✔ avoid interruptions in care

📌 When do these changes take effect?

Changes occur during the new Medicaid contract year. Dates vary by notice, so please review any letter you receive.

📌 Who can I call for help?

December 7–13 is National Anxiety & Depression Awareness Week.

Chances are you know and love someone who lives with anxiety or depression—even if they’ve never said it out loud. This week, consider:

Checking in on a friend or family member

Sharing your own mental health story (if it feels safe for you)

Encouraging someone to reach out for professional support

Learning the warning signs of a mental health crisis

Small conversations can make a big difference. 💬💙

If you’re having a hard time, you don’t have to do this alone. Support is available, and healing is possible. Contact Priority Psychiatric Services to schedule an appointment with one of our providers.

If you’re in immediate distress or worried about someone’s safety, call or text 988 for 24/7 crisis support.

Today, we honor the strength, brilliance, and lived experiences of individuals with disabilities—visible, invisible, temporary, or lifelong. This day invites all of us to slow down, listen closely, and create spaces where every person is able to participate fully without barriers or stigma.

At Priority Psychiatric Services, we are committed to providing compassionate, accessible, person-centered care. We recognize the unique challenges individuals with disabilities may face in healthcare, employment, relationships, mobility, and daily living—and we stand with you as partners, advocates, and supporters.

Let’s continue shaping a world that values inclusion not as an act of charity, but as a reflection of shared humanity.

💙 You matter. Your voice matters. Your story matters.
💙 Accessibility is a right—not an option.

🎄 December is National Stress-Free Family Holidays Month 🎄

At Priority Psychiatric Services, we know the holiday season can be joyful—but also overwhelming. December invites us to slow down, set boundaries, protect our mental health, and create traditions that feel meaningful instead of stressful.

A few gentle reminders this month:
• You are allowed to say no to things that drain you.
• Rest is productive.
• Small, simple traditions are just as valid as big ones.
• Connection matters more than perfection.

If you find yourself feeling burned out, anxious, or stretched thin this season, you are not alone. Our team is here to support you in building a holiday season that aligns with your values, your energy, and your well-being.

Wishing everyone a calmer, kinder December. 💙

As Thanksgiving approaches, we’re reminded that gratitude and mental health go hand in hand.
For some, this season brings joy and connection; for others, it can bring stress, grief, or emotional overwhelm. Wherever you find yourself, your feelings are valid.

We encourage you to take moments this week to breathe, ground yourself, and practice compassion — both for others and for yourself.
Wishing everyone a safe and meaningful Thanksgiving.

11/24/2025

As we head into the Thanksgiving holiday, Priority Psychiatric Services would like to express our deep gratitude to our patients, referral partners, and the entire community. Your trust and support mean more than we can ever fully put into words. It is an honor to walk alongside you, provide care, and be part of a community that looks out for one another.

In observance of Thanksgiving, our office will close on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at noon and will reopen on Monday, December 1, 2025 at 8:00 am.

If you need immediate assistance during this time, please contact 988 for mental health emergencies or call 911 for any immediate safety concerns.

We wish everyone a peaceful and safe holiday.

DEPRESSION TIPS:

Shower. Not a bath, a shower. Use water as hot or cold as you like. You don’t even need to wash. Just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. Sit on the floor if you gotta.

Moisturize everything. Use whatever lotion you like. Unscented? Poundland lotion? Fancy 48 hour lotion that makes you smell like a field of wildflowers? Use whatever you want, and use it all over your entire dermis.

Put on clean, comfortable clothes.

Put on your favorite underwear. Cute black lacy panties? Those ridiculous boxers you bought last christmas with pink love hearts on the butt? Put them on.

Drink cold water. Use ice. If you want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.

Clean something. Doesn’t have to be anything big. Organize one drawer of a desk. Wash five dirty dishes. Do a load of laundry. Scrub the bathroom sink.

Blast music. Listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. Sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.

Make food. Don’t just grab a Kit Kat bar to munch. Take the time and make food. Even if it’s beans on toast. Add something special to it, like a soft boiled egg or some veggies. Prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something.

Make something. Write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. Even if you don’t think you’re good at it. Create.

Go outside. Take a walk. Sit in the grass. Look at the clouds. Smell flowers. Put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.

Call someone. Call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. Talk to a stranger on the street. Have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. If you can’t bring yourself to call, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. Even if you don’t say much, listen to them. It helps.

Cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. Take pictures of them. Talk to them. Tell them how you feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out, anything.

May seem small or silly to some, but this list keeps people alive.

*** At your absolute best you won’t be good enough for the wrong people. But at your worst, you’ll still be worth it to the right ones. Remember that. Keep holding on.

Find something to be grateful for!
