Most people think hydration only matters when they feel thirsty.

But the reality is nearly every tissue in your body depends on water to function.

You’re exhausted…
But your labs are “normal.”

One number I look at constantly in fatigued, active adults?

Ferritin.

Ferritin is your iron storage marker — essentially your body’s iron reserve tank.

Most lab ranges say anywhere from 15–150 ng/mL is “normal.”

But functionally?
Many people don’t feel their best until ferritin is closer to ~100 ng/mL.

And here’s the part most people miss…

You can have:
• Normal hemoglobin
• Normal CBC
• “Normal” iron

And still have low ferritin.



🔻 When ferritin is LOW, you may experience:
• Persistent fatigue
• Brain fog
• Hair thinning or shedding
• Cold intolerance
• Poor workout recovery
• Anxiety or irritability
• Restless legs

Your body simply doesn’t have enough stored iron to support optimal oxygen delivery and energy production.

🔺 When ferritin is HIGH, it’s not always a good thing.

Ferritin is also an inflammatory marker.

Elevated levels can reflect:
• Chronic inflammation
• Liver stress
• Metabolic dysfunction
• Infection
• Iron overload (less common, but possible)

High doesn’t always mean “great iron status.” It can mean stress.

This is why “in range” doesn’t always mean optimal.
