Carolina Equine Hospital We are a primarily equine practice offering ambulatory and haul-in services. We regularly see cows, goats, alpacas, and a variety of other species.

Our office is open Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm, but we can be reached 24/7 for emergency services by calling our office number 336-349-4080 and then pressing 801. If you would like to leave a message for reception that will be returned the next business day, hit 802. Carolina Equine Hospital offers a variety of services to our clients both on farm and in our hospital. With an 'above and beyond' mentality we strive to offer the best quality medicine available. From routine vaccination and dental work, to lameness examinations, eye cases, breeding work, pre-purchase examinations, and MANY more. With haul-in and hospitalization accommodations available we are able to provide our clients with customized care for every situation. While we are Carolina 'Equine' Hospital, we offer a variety of services for the non-equid patient as well. If you have any questions about the services we offer we would be more than happy to chat with you.

Equine herpesvirus (EHV) is a family of equine viruses named by numbers including EHV-1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 with EHV-1,3,4 posing the most risk for domestic horses. EHV is a common DNA virus that occurs in horse populations worldwide. The two most common species are EHV-1 and EHV-4.

Equine Influenza is a highly contagious though rarely fatal respiratory disease. The virus is distinct from influenzas viruses in other species. The most common form of transmission is airborne droplets in  from affected horses.

The upper respiratory disease commonly referred to as strangles is caused by Streptococcus equi subsp equi. Strangles is spread from horse to horse through direct contact. Horses can also contract the disease by coming into contact with contaminated surfaces. The disease is highly infectious.
