Today’s White House event on autism was filled with dangerous claims and misleading information that sends a confusing message to parents and expecting parents and does a disservice to autistic individuals.

We know autism is complex, highly variable and increasingly linked to genetics. Individualized plans, often involving a combination of developmental, behavioral, educational and social-relational strategies, can help improve outcomes that are meaningful to individuals and families. We also need and welcome additional investments in federally funded research to better support families of autistic children.

Families who have questions about their child’s medications, autism care plans or other health care should consult with their pediatrician or health care provider.

Meet the newest addition to our office, Dr. Samantha Olvera! 👩🏽‍⚕️

Dr. Olvera was proudly raised in Brownsville, TX. She attended Stell Middle School and Brownsville Early College High School (BECHS). She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, TX and has recently completed her pediatric residency training at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.
Fulfilling a lifelong dream, Dr. Olvera has returned home to care for the children of her community. As a Brownsville resident, she understands the unique needs of local families and is committed to helping children grow up healthy, happy, and supported. She is passionate about providing compassionate, family-centered care and building lasting relationships with her patients.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Olvera loves spending time with her family-whether it's enjoying a sunny afternoon at the park with her husband and toddler, sharing a meal at the dinner table, or simply making memories together.
