Donnie Dorrill, age 65, a resident of Brundidge, AL died Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Flowers Hospital in Dothan. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11:00 am in Lakeview Cemetery with the Reverend Mark Cooper officiating and Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Mr. Dorrill is survived by his children: Becky Cooper (Mark), Jackie Senn (Bill Donaldson), Tim Senn (Cindi); grandchildren: Jon Cooper (Kristen), Nicholas Wilson (Paige), Justin Culver, Amber Jordan (Matthew), Amy Hussey (Jason), Chrissy Behel, Michelle Guyton, Jessica Peeden; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 nephews, Patrick Kline, Andrew Kline and numerous aunts, cousins and other family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shairee Dorrill; parents, Ray and Margaret Dorrill; brother, Ronnie Dean Dorrill and sister Patty Kline.

He was a sweet, funny, kind, and generous man that loved his family. He could always make you laugh, and never met a stranger. He always knew what he wanted and how he wanted it.

Max A. Shiver, age 96, a resident of Troy, AL died Saturday, March 25, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 1:00 pm from Collegedale Church of Christ with Minister Bobby Templin and Minister Robert Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in the Hamilton Crossroads Church of Christ Cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Troy directing. There will be a lie-in-state one hour prior to the service at the church.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Troy.

He is survived by his wife of 76 years Judy R. Shiver; children: Dr. Ron Shiver (Tracy); Jan DeHaven (Jim), Paul Shiver (Sherri); grandchildren: Rhonda Thornton (Jeff); Matt Shiver (Lisa), Rye Shiver, Neil Pratt (Kristin), John Pratt, Austin Shiver (Meg), Reed Shiver (Eden), Barrett Shiver; 7 great-grandchildren: Mason and Sarah Thornton, David and Shelby Pratt, Whitney and Max Shiver, Dylan Pratt; brother, Bill Shiver; sister, Marty Lyons (Cliff); many nieces and nephews and other family.

Special Thank you to Clemmie Seymour and Becky Darby for all their wonderful care.

Mr. Shiver was preceded in death by his parents, Arlton and Bennie Lou Shiver, and 4 siblings, Sue, Jack, Juanita, and Bettie.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.

Max was a veteran of World War II. He was the last veteran of World War II in Pike County. He served in the South Pacific. He attended Electrical School for 4 years in Macon, Georgia and worked for 40 years in the electrical field, including 20 plus years at the Hospital in Troy as a maintenance engineer. He was also a member of IEBW for 75 years. After he retired he and Judy traveled for 15 years in a RV through the US, Canada, Alaska and Mexico. Max was a member of the Collegedale Church of Christ which he helped to build in 1974.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Christian Student Center or Collegedale Church of Christ at 703 University Avenue, Troy, Alabama 36081.

Rita Jane Brooks, age 93, a resident of Troy, died Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks will be held on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 11am at Bush Memorial Baptist Church with Bro. Alvie Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service from 10am to 11am.

Mrs. Brooks was a loving mother, grandmother and friend. She cherished every moment she spent with her family and loved them dearly. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Mr. Norris Danner, age 75, a resident of the New Hope Community died Saturday, March 11, 2023 at his home. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 13, 2023 at 11:00 am in the New Hope Baptist Church with the Reverend Rick Hayes officiating. There will be a lie-in-state one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home of Brundidge directing.

Visitation will be held Sunday, March 12, 2023 from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Dillard Funeral Home in Brundidge.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Brenda Danner; 2 sons, Andy Danner and Jody Danner, Sr. (Christie); 4 grandchildren, Jody (Nikki) Danner II, Christopher Danner, Bella Danner, Katie Beth Pynes; 1 great-grandchild, Chloe Danner; siblings, Franklin Danner (Louise), Rebecca Jackson, Larry Dickey (LaJuan), Billy Dickey (Nita), Judy Nolin (Chester), Kathy Pynes (Brandon), numerous nieces, nephews and other family.

Norris sold Jack's Cookies for a short period of time. In late 1969 he went to work with Dairy Fresh Milk Company on a home delivery route. When home delivery phased out he did store delivery. He sold milk 23 1/2 years. He then went to work with Alabama Department of Transportation where he worked as a Rest Area Attendant for 18 1/2 years; he retired in 2011. He and Brenda both volunteered with Brundidge Rescue Squad and Five Star volunteer Fire Department. During the last few days, in his mind, he was back at work and was just as dedicated as when he was actually working. Even when he was unsure of things, he always knew he loved his family and wanted to protect them.
