💙April 2 💙

Today we celebrate Autism Awareness, Acceptance, and Appreciation Day—a time to not only recognize autism, but to truly embrace, understand, and value the unique strengths and perspectives of individuals on the spectrum.

Awareness is important, but acceptance creates inclusion, and appreciation celebrates the beauty in differences. Let’s continue to build a community where every individual feels seen, supported, and empowered to be exactly who they are.

Join us in spreading kindness, understanding, and acceptance today—and every day. 💙

💙 BIG NEWS for Georgia Families! 💙
Last Wednesday, March 25, Georgia Senate Bill 433 officially PASSED The General Assembly with a 169–0 vote 🙌
That’s right—unanimous support for a law focused on improving safety and understanding for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities.
This is more than just a bill—this is progress.

✔️ Increased awareness

✔️ Better training for first responders

✔️ Safer interactions for our families
We are so encouraged to see our state come together to support and protect the individuals we serve every single day 💙
This is what advocacy looks like. This is what community looks like.

As summer quickly approaches, it’s important to talk about water safety—especially for children with autism. 💧💙

Drowning is the leading cause of death for children with autism, often linked to wandering and a natural attraction to water. It can happen quickly and silently, even in small amounts of water.

Many children with autism:

Are drawn to water (pools, ponds, lakes)
May not recognize danger
May not respond when their name is called.

This is why constant supervision and early swim lessons are so important.

If you’re looking for support, we encourage you to connect with GA Swim School at gaswimschool.com. They offer lessons in Brunswick and Jesup and can also provide information on FREE swim lessons through GAWSA.

Let’s work together to keep our kiddos safe, confident, and enjoying the water this summer! 🌊☀️
