Sweetser's Support ME Peer Center

Sweetser's Support ME Peer Center Come as you are. We’ll meet you there. The center is the sixth of its kind in Maine and the only peer center serving the Midcoast. to 4:30 p.m.

Our Peer Center provides free, walk-in peer support for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, life stress, and trauma. Sweetser has officially opened its SupportME Peer Center in Brunswick, offering a free, no-judgment community resource for Mainers who are struggling with mental health or substance use. Located at 329 Bath Road next to Sweetser's Hope & Healing Center, the facility will serve residents in Brunswick and throughout Sagadahoc, Knox, Waldo, and Lincoln Counties. The purpose of a peer center is to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where people come together to connect, share, and support one another at all stages of their recovery journey. The center offers daily peer-run groups, life skills workshops, and one-on-one support, all staffed by trained peer support specialists, each of whom have their own personal connection to mental health or substance use challenges. The facility does not require any payment or insurance. Community members don't even need to provide their full name. The philosophy here is truly, “Come as you are.”

The SupportME Peer Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. Community members can connect with staff at 207-373-3005 or email PeerCenter@sweetser.org. More information is available at Sweetser.org/PeerCenter.

✨ Women’s History Month Spotlight: Maya Angelou ✨

“You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated.” — Maya Angelou

This Women’s History Month, we honor Dr. Maya Angelou — poet, author, civil rights activist, and one of the most powerful literary voices of our time.

Through works like I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, she gave language to pain, resilience, identity, and triumph. Her words have strengthened generations — reminding us that setbacks do not define us.

Maya Angelou didn’t just write poetry. She wrote courage into the hearts of millions.

Her life stands as proof that defeat is temporary — but purpose is permanent.

🌹 Who helped you find your voice?
