Sweetser's Support ME Peer Center

Come as you are. We’ll meet you there. The center is the sixth of its kind in Maine and the only peer center serving the Midcoast. to 4:30 p.m.

Our Peer Center provides free, walk-in peer support for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, life stress, and trauma. Sweetser has officially opened its SupportME Peer Center in Brunswick, offering a free, no-judgment community resource for Mainers who are struggling with mental health or substance use. Located at 329 Bath Road next to Sweetser's Hope & Healing Center, the facility w

ill serve residents in Brunswick and throughout Sagadahoc, Knox, Waldo, and Lincoln Counties. The purpose of a peer center is to create a welcoming, judgment-free space where people come together to connect, share, and support one another at all stages of their recovery journey. The center offers daily peer-run groups, life skills workshops, and one-on-one support, all staffed by trained peer support specialists, each of whom have their own personal connection to mental health or substance use challenges. The facility does not require any payment or insurance. Community members don't even need to provide their full name. The philosophy here is truly, “Come as you are.”

Happy May Day everyone! Our May schedule is here, please note that there will be no groups on Wednesday the 13th when the staff will be at the Maine HOPE Conference, but that the center will be open that day. Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Thursday everyone! Today at the center, we have Alternatives to Su***de at 11 and Without a Prayer (secular A.A.) at 6. Tomorrow for movie day we're having Deja Vu Day (SLC Punk 2 in the morning and Touch of Evil in the afternoon) and Performance for Peers workshop at its new 12:00 time. Hope to see you in here again soon. 😁

Good morning! Our weekly Community Meeting is today at 1:30, followed immediately by a meeting of the Governing Board. Also today at the center we have Beyond the System (medical trauma group) at 10:30 and General Support group at 12.

Happy Friday! One last reminder that the Clothing Swap is happening this Sunday from 12 to 4, and that there's no charge for picking up some clothes. Today for Community Game and Movie Day, we're presenting movies featuring themes of growing up with generational trauma in Asian and Asian-Canadian cultures: Turning Red this morning and K-Pop Demon Hunters in the afternoon.

Hi everyone! A reminder that the center is closed today (Thursday 4/23) but that we'll be open again Friday for game and movie day! Tomorrow we'll be showing K-Pop Demon Hunters and Turning Red, with Performance for Peers at it's new time of 12pm. And don't forget our Spring Clothing Swap is happening this Sunday from 12-4pm.

Today is the last day that we'll be accepting donations for Sunday's Spring Clothing Swap! Please bring by your clean, gently worn clothes (including kids' sizes), shoes, and accessories before 4:30 today if you wish to donate (donation receipts are available on request). We've already got quite a stock for Sunday and are looking forward to a great event!

Today at the center, we've got Beyond the System (medical trauma group) at 11, General Support group at 12, and our weekly Community Meeting at 1:30. A reminder that the center will be CLOSED on Thursday April 23 (tomorrow) for a staff event, but will be open for our regular hours again on Friday.

Good morning! Today is our second day of accepting donations for the clothing swap on Sunday: we've already received a good amount and our volunteers are doing an excellent job of sorting. If you have any (clean and gently worn) clothes, shoes, or accessories to donate, please bring them by during regular business hours. Donation receipts are available upon request.

Today at the center we have You're Not Alone (A.A.) at 11:30, General Support group at 1, and Hearing Voices at 3. Happy Tuesday!
