Update On - Dean David And Life Of A Transplant Mom

Video of Dean David heading in to surgery on Thursday he was feeling pretty good they gave him some medicine to help calm him!

We’re beyond grateful that his surgery to place his port went well. This was a very important surgery since IV’s and bloodwork are very hard to get. But now if he was to go into cardiac arrest, they will have a constant line to access. So if he needs life-saving medication’s or anything else like that they can also use it for his anti-rejection medication therapies and for blood draws. The two surgery sites look pretty painful but are healing well. It’s been really helpful having daddy here to be with him while he has been recovering.

Before I left, I got Dean David a new friend so that when he misses mommy, he can hold his new friend!

LIFE OF A TRANSPLANT MOM

Dean David did well during surgery!

The first location they picked to place the port was unsuccessful due to his coronary artery disease and the narrowing of his arteries. The second location they picked was successful he didn’t have any other issues during surgery and went to recovery. When me and dad arrived in the ICU Dean David was surrounded by security! They said that he woke up agitated so they called security for the safety of their staff. Instead of calling his mommy or daddy to help de-escalate the situation when we were there. Dean David is a 5 year old little boy who is autistic and has been in the hospital for 115 days and is now telling us he is afraid of the police and the staff. We’re still not clear on what happened, but it is being investigated and I will update when I know more. But this is unacceptable he is a little boy with special needs in a high stress situation.

Update On - Dean David And Life Of A Transplant Mom

We made it back to Nationwide in Columbus, Ohio last night and we brought dad with us!

Things ran behind and Dean David is in surgery now he is having a port put in so they can have access. IV’s are not holding up and they need constant access in case Dean David was to go in to cardiac arrest. They can use it for his anti-rejection treatments along with other things. This surgery is high risk for him they told us he has a higher risk of going into cardiac arrest during this surgery.

Please Pray that everything goes well for him and I will update soon!

Update on - Dean David Heart Journey And Life Of A Transplant Mom

Dean David is having a rough time me and Wyatt Grady headed home last night for his 2 month doctors appointment. I wanted to beat the winter storm that is coming we made it home after 3 AM last night and have been resting all day.

Dean David was supposed to get a new IV last night in order to do his rejection medication therapy’s. But they were unsuccessful in getting an IV after three pokes they were considering giving him a medication to calm him down as he was very upset that I had left, but they decided to stop and try again today. But today they have decided that they’re going to wait till next week.

Please say an extra special Prayer for my mom she is at the hospital by herself, taking care of our sweet boy! It’s very hard to be up there continuously without being able to have some downtime to rest and relax and get some real food!

Dean David has been in the hospital for 108 days! So we try to do things to make him happy and keep him entertained! That includes bringing him surprises like toys and cheese puffs!

Dean David has was having to carrying his heart monitor around all the time because the bag they have was hurting his neck.

My sister came up with the idea to order him this backpack from her and my mother. It’s been such a lifesaver because now he has both hands-free so that he can play!
