It’s very common to feel irritable, tired, and even depressed when you start making lifestyle changes. You’re losing those old coping mechanisms….starving that old addiction that used to bring you comfort when you fed it. If you’re struggling with this, it could be that you tried to make too many changes too quickly. Back off a bit, give yourself some grace, and make small incremental changes each week. Remember that you are trying to change things that you likely have been doing for decades; it won’t happen easily and it won’t be overnight.

Just a quick little video to show you how to make a pretty inexpensive, low calorie high protein, buffalo chicken to either eat straight from the bowl or add to some lettuce leaves for a low-calorie wrap. You can also add it onto a low-carb high fiber tortilla if you need to get some more fiber in. If you’re trying to watch the calories though This is a great way to go. If you’re not a fan of cottage cheese and it’s a texture issue you can always use an immersion blender and blend the mess out of that cottage cheese until it is smooth and then add your ranch and Frank’s red hot and it tastes just like a buffalo chicken sauce.

Whether you are just starting out in your wellness journey, or you have been at it for several months or even years, remember that this is a long-term lifestyle change that you will have to continue to work at. Forever. Obesity and food addiction are chronic conditions that require long-term treatment. Regardless of if your treatment involves medication, bariatric surgery, lifestyle, changes, or a combination of any of them, the key factor is to be consistent, trust the process and DON’T GIVE UP! You will have days that you gain. You will have days, weeks, maybe even months that you plateau. There are ways to work around that and change things up to get past it and just know that it happens to everyone. Just keep pushing and remember that you are on a journey that is going to last the rest of your life so buckle up, buckle down, and get after it.

These are really good. I forgot to take a picture after I had them cooked before we started eating them. You can microwave them or make them in the oven…sprinkled a little bit of mozzarella cheese on top and stuck them under the broiler for a few minutes, and they came out pretty and delicious. Sorry I forgot the picture of that because they looked much more appetizing after they were heated up than they did when I first opened them! Regardless, they were only about five dollars each, so even if you don’t like them, you’re not losing a lot of money on giving them a try. If you do like them, they can split up into three days of lunches for you.

Be careful with trail mix and nuts. While good sources of protein and a quick snack….they are often calorie dense and it’s easy to eat more than you think. This is not to single out any particular brand , just to give an example. 4oz of this mix is over 600 calories and most people would eat the entire package easily.
