Today is an extra special employee spotlight!
We’re honored to highlight one of our own — Firefighter/Paramedic Allexa Leece, Full-Time on Blue Shift.
Following in her father’s footsteps, Allexa began her fire service career as a Paid-On-Call firefighter with Highland Township in July 2023. It didn’t take long for her to realize this was her calling. Through hard work and determination, she earned a full-time position in February 2025.
Shortly thereafter, life presented an unexpected challenge. In April 2025, Allexa was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy and was placed on the kidney transplant list. She is currently undergoing peritoneal dialysis at home six nights a week, which has required her to take medical leave.
If you know Allexa, you know she is facing this battle with the same fierce tenacity and heart that earned her the “Bulldog Award” in her fire academy — an award recognizing grit, resilience, and a never-quit attitude.
Outside of work, Allexa enjoys working out, riding her bike, and — fun fact — collecting rocks.
Her medical team is actively seeking a kidney donor. At Highland Township Fire Department, we see miracles happen all the time, and we are sharing the link below in hopes of finding one for Allexa.
