A Main Line Health surgeon has become Pennsylvania's first to implant a new, cutting-edge device for a challenging condition that causes a painful, sometimes debilitating condition in the re**al area and has long frustrated colore**al surgeons.

Dr. Philip Pearson and his team at Bryn Mawr Hospital recently became the first in the state, and among the first nationally, to implant the BioHealx®️ device to treat a**l fistula. The surgery was done with a quick, minimally invasive procedure.

“Anal fistula is a common disease that no one talks about and is difficult to fix,” said Dr. Pearson, "By far, this is the best solution that we’ve ever had to offer. I’m excited about starting to use it for our patients.”

The Orthopaedic Surgery Center at Bryn Mawr Hospital has been recognized by Newsweek as one of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers. This award highlights the top centers for outpatient surgical care across the country.

The 700 Ambulatory Surgery Centers named to this year’s list were evaluated through a scoring model based on four pillars: quality metrics, peer recommendations, patient experience and accreditations.

When Crozer Health announced its closure, one of the most urgent needs left behind was access to obstetric and gynecologic care. For women in Delaware County, this meant longer travel times, delayed appointments and uncertainty about where to turn for trusted care.

To help fill this gap, Main Line Health welcomed many former Crozer physicians, nurses and staff — providing them with a new home where they could continue their commitment to patients.

Among the recent hires are Dr. Elizabeth B. Louka, Dr. Yun-Lin Cheng, Dr. Lloydia Reynolds and Dr. Steven Troy, who now practice together at Main Line HealthCare OB/GYN at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Main Line Health is proud to announce that three of its acute care hospitals have been recognized for their excellence in the 2025–26 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings. Lankenau Medical Center, Paoli Hospital and Bryn Mawr Hospital have all achieved high rankings in both regional and state listings.

The rankings:
🏥 Lankenau Medical Center: sixth regionally, 13th statewide
🏥 Paoli Hospital: eighth regionally, 17th statewide
🏥 Bryn Mawr Hospital: 10th regionally, 22nd statewide

After nearly two decades of dedicated leadership, we extend our heartfelt thanks and warmest wishes to Jack Lynch, FACHE, President and CEO of Main Line Health, as he retires from his role with the System. Jack will remain at Main Line Health through June 30 to support Ed Jimenez, incoming President and CEO, with a smooth and seamless transition.

During his tenure, Jack spearheaded significant clinical and operational transformation. He led efforts to create a stronger, unified System by consolidating services, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and elevating standards of care. Under his guidance, Main Line Health consistently earned top marks for patient safety and quality, gaining national recognition for excellence.

While the milestones reached under Jack’s leadership are a testament to his visionary leadership, he has always been the first to say they are not his alone — they are the direct result of the unwavering dedication of Main Line Health’s colleagues, medical staff, volunteers and extended community of supporters.

We are excited to announce that Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital have each earned the prestigious Pathway to Excellence designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This recognition underscores the hospitals’ commitment to creating positive practice environments where nurses thrive and deliver exceptional patient care.

“This is a remarkable achievement for Bryn Mawr Hospital, Paoli Hospital and Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital, and a testament to the dedication and professionalism of our nursing teams,” said Elizabeth (Betty) Craig, DNP, RN, FACHE, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer of Main Line Health. “The Pathway to Excellence designation reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering a culture of excellence in nursing practice, which ultimately translates to better outcomes for our patients.”

Lankenau Medical Center, Riddle Hospital and HomeCare & Hospice are also on the journey to achieve Pathway designation. Those facilities will learn by mid-2025 if they have earned designation.

We had the pleasure of treating little SJ recently at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

SJ brought smiles to our pediatrics team, especially when one of his overnight nurses transformed the blood pressure machine into a character from his favorite TV show! This creative touch helped make his visit a little less scary.

Main Line Health had a crazy but joyful start to 2025 as babies were born within the year's first hour at all four of our hospitals! ❤️

In rapid succession, Beckham Ford Iatarola was born at 12:21 a.m. at Paoli Hospital, followed by Grace Ann Castagna at Riddle Hospital at 12:42 a.m., Dylan Avery Bucknor-Stark at Lankenau Medical Center at 12:49 a.m., and Quinn Krout at Bryn Mawr Hospital at 12:57 p.m.!
