Synergy Sports & Corrective Massage/Synergy Functional Nutrition + Wellness

Synergy Sports & Corrective Massage/Synergy Functional Nutrition + Wellness We define sports and corrective treatment as a fusion of bodywork techniques, designed to alleviate symptoms of acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.

Pain relief isn’t enough—we restore function by integrating corrective bodywork, MFR, craniosacral therapy, assisted stretching, and root-cause functional nutrition to address pain and dysfunction at the systems level and support long-term wellness. Our diverse staff has extensive direct experience with a multitude of injuries and illness including but not limited to migraine headaches; TMJ; rotator cuff injuries; tendonitis; digestive disorders; SI joint pain; ALS; stress fractures; and muscle sprains and strains. We focus our practice on the use of well-established and historically tested massage and bodywork modalities including but not limited to myofascial release; structural integration; trigger-point therapy; cross-fiber friction; stretching; and sports massage therapy. Our specialized and individualized treatment programs directly address the fascia and connective tissue, as well as the muscular and joint components of dysfunction. Along with direct treatment, we also review what factors may be affecting your function, and provide education, support and self-care techniques to improve your long-term well-being.

🍋 + 🌿 Feeling puffy or holding onto extra fluid?

Adding fresh parsley and lemon can support gentle fluid balance and the body’s natural drainage pathways by supporting lymph flow and kidney filtration.

Try squeezing lemon and adding chopped parsley to water, salads, or meals this week.

Small habits support the systems that help you feel lighter and more comfortable.

🌿 Zinc-Rich Protein Boosters

Most people think of zinc as a supplement, yet high-dose supplements can disrupt mineral balance. Getting zinc from whole foods is often safer, more balanced, and easier for the body to absorb and use.

Foods like oysters, pumpkin seeds, grass-fed beef, chickpeas, and other zinc-rich options help support:

✔ gut lining repair
✔ immune balance
✔ skin healing and clarity
✔ hormone and metabolic function
✔ tissue repair and recovery

If you rely on plant sources, pair them with vitamin-C foods like lemon, peppers, or greens to improve absorption.

🍍While most of us love pineapple for its sweetness, many don’t realize that the core contains a powerful enzyme called bromelain, which helps break down protein. Because the core is not sweet, most people prefer to cut it up and add it to a smoothie. About 1–2 tablespoons is enough. Avoid use if you are on anticoagulants, such as Coumadin.

🥣 Bone broth provides amino acids and minerals that support the gut lining and digestion. In smaller amounts, it is often easier to tolerate and less overwhelming for the system.

Quality matters with bone broth—use organic, pasture-raised bones and avoid long cooking times. Simple, short-cooked broths are often the best choice.

You’ll see a lot these days about MTHFR.

What often gets missed—a gene result doesn’t tell you what to do next on its own.

How it shows up depends on digestion, stress, nervous system load, hormones, medications, and your health timeline — not just the gene itself.

You don’t need more testing to start making sense of it. A lot becomes clear by looking at symptoms, patterns, and history and putting everything into context.

If you’ve had results and aren’t sure what they actually mean for you, this is the kind of support I offer. https://synergycorrective.com/functional-nutrition-bryn-mawr/

I’ve always been a skincare nerd at heart 💛 — long before functional nutrition became my work. even before becoming an esthetician almost 25 years ago, I was always the person looking up every ingredient.

That’s why I wrote this piece breaking down why skincare labels sound scientific and what they actually mean for your skin. Real skin health isn’t just about what you put on your face — it’s about barrier function, inflammation, nourishment, and how the whole body is supported.

If you’ve ever read a label and thought, what does this really tell me? — this one’s for you.

While I’m not actively practicing esthetics these days, I’m always happy to talk skin with clients—especially how it intersects with nutrition and lifestyle.

Skincare labels often use scientific-sounding terms that imply credibility without clear meaning. Learn how to interpret common skincare claims and what truly matters for skin health.

🥕 Raw carrot salad can be a helpful tool for some people.

The fibers in carrots support hormone balance and digestion, which is why some notice less bloating or a lighter, less puffy feeling.

Best eaten earlier in the day and paired with protein and fat. If raw veggies don’t feel good, lightly cooked carrots are a great option too.
