Recently, we purchased a cider press from Amazon and finally, we decided that it was time to make some. We bought Honey Crisp, Gala, and just a few Granny Smith apples for our recipe and cut them up into small pieces. AND, we learned a very valuable lesson—they also sell a GRINDER for this, LOL! None of us had ever tried this idea before, and Google assured us that cutting the apples into small pieces would work fine. Well, I’m just going to have to say, “Only if you are CONAN the BARBARIAN!” We had 4 staff try their best to turn the handle to press those apples, and instead of getting 2 gallons of juice, we managed about 12 ounces…because the press beat us☹. Fortunately, we had some fresh-pressed cider from the grocery store that still paired nicely with our donuts and everyone in attendance was able to get a taste of what we were able to actually make; It was so delicious! Anyway, Instead of simply an afternoon of fresh-pressed cider and donuts, we also provided our folks with quite the comedy routine, faces and sounds included.

Employee of the Month🎉

Congratulations to Michael for being chosen as Employee of the Month!
What is his favorite part of his job you ask? Well, in his words, it’s interacting with the residents because he believes that everyone deserves a helping hand and a listening ear. He feels the satisfaction he gets from it is so rewarding because, “some of them REALLY need the help”. Always friendly and generous with his smiles, both our residents and staff find Michael so easy to be around. He truly enjoys knowing that he can help make their days better. He enjoys working with the other employees as well as building friendships while still working with the residents. With his quiet and gentle personality, we can see he is easy to be around.
Originally from Kenya, he is the middle child of three. He has an older brother, George, and a younger sister, Sharon and of course, Mom and Dad.
His two dogs, Simba and Maasi, are five years old now and he states he has lots of love to give them, also.
In his off time, he enjoys hiking, singing Karaoke, playing tennis and enjoys long drives with no destination in mind!
His plans for his future? Going back to school next year to further his studies, travel to Asia and South America, to own his own business, to create jobs, pay his taxes, be an outstanding citizen, and live the American dream! Michael, keep dreaming and don’t stop, and keep up the good work, we know you can do it!

We want to send out a HUGE thank you to everyone who was able to come to our Halloween event; it was SO MUCH FUN!!! We truly enjoyed meeting everyone and seeing all the amazing costumes. You all made this quite the Halloween to remember and we just cannot wait for next year. Until then, please enjoy these pictures we’ve included in this post; there were so many more, but we couldn’t quite post them all!

🎃 A Huge Thank You to Maris Farms! 🎃

We want to give a big thank you to Maris Farms for their generous pumpkin donation to our residents! Everyone had an absolute blast decorating their pumpkins and showing off their creativity. Our halls look so festive with all the pumpkins displayed outside their doors!

Your kindness brought so many smiles and brightened our fall season — thank you so, so much! 🍂💛
