A New York Times investigation reveals the retirement plans administered by private insurers often deny care that should be covered and that hospitals and doctors offices have complained about these plans as they are not covering needed tests and treatments.
The staff at Lakeview Medical recommend that our retired eligible patients opt for government operated traditional Medicare with supplemental insurance. Traditional Medicare pays for 80 percent of medical expenses and supplemental insurance will cover the remaining 20 percent. The supplemental insurance can be provided by AARP, Horizon, Cigna, etc.

Investigators urged increased oversight of the program, saying that insurers deny tens of thousands of authorization requests annually.

Information from Morris County Regarding the COVID-19 Vaccination
As most residents are aware, yesterday the State of New Jersey modified those eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine to include individuals over 65, and those individuals between the ages of 16 and 64 who have specific underlying health issues.
This was a significant departure from the initial Phase 1A Category of individuals, who are currently being served at the Morris Regional Vaccination Center in Rockaway. The logistics involved in implementing such a change are significant and predicated upon the availability of the vaccine, the implementation of coordinated registration and appointment technology, and the expansion of professional and medical staff. The availability of the vaccine is key. As the Governor has repeatedly stated, the demand in New Jersey far exceeds supply, which is clearly the case for the Morris Vaccination Center.

Based on vaccine availability, you will be notified when you are qualified to receive the vaccine AND when appointments are opening. Each individual will then be able to register for an open appointment.
The County has established a COVID-19 hotline where further information can be obtained. This hotline can be reached at 973-829-8250. The hotline is staffed 7 days each week, during business hours.
Once the supply of the vaccine begins to increase, it is anticipated that many individuals will be able to visit their doctor to receive the injection, much like they would the flu shot.

A quick note regarding the COVID-19 vaccine:

Currently we do not have the COVID-19 vaccine in our office to give to our patients and we do not know yet when these will be available. When these vaccines become available we will be given these on a tiered system, as directed by the state of New Jersey.

Lakeview Medical is now offering COVID-19 Ig G antibody testing. This test can be used to identify those who have been exposed to COVID-19 and may have developed an immune response to the virus.

Simply knowing may help minimize the risk of continued spread and identify those who may be able to return to work.

If you have any questions about testing, please schedule a telemedicine visit with a provider in our office. The test consists of a blood sample which will be sent to a laboratory.

We are continuing to provide medical services to the community and we hope that everyone stays safe and healthy.

We at Lakeview Medical are carefully monitoring the current Covid-19 pandemic. We understand that parents have concerns about bringing children to the office. We can minimize this risk as much as possible, by allowing patients to wait in their cars for appoinments, and we are not seeing patients with Covid-19 symptoms in the office.
Delaying childrens vaccines places them at risk for vaccine preventable diseases. Please do not delay your childrens vaccines, call (973) 691-1111 with questions or to schedule an appointment.

Afraid of Covid-19, parents are postponing well-child checkups, including shots, putting millions of children at risk of exposure to preventable deadly diseases.
