🎉 Why therapists don’t always “let kids win” 🎉

Yes, we cheer. Yes, we celebrate.
And yes — sometimes the therapist wins on purpose.

In pediatric therapy, games aren’t about the score. They’re about teaching frustration tolerance, flexibility, emotional regulation, and sportsmanship in a safe, supportive space.

When a child loses during play, they get the chance to practice:

- handling disappointment
- staying regulated
- trying again
- learning that losing is okay — and temporary

We’re not trying to “beat” kids.
We’re helping them build skills they’ll need for school, friendships, and real-life moments — where they won’t always win.

And when they _do_ win after working through the hard parts?
That victory means so much more. 💙

Looking for a supportive, structured place for your child this summer while you work? Our Ready, Set, Grow therapeutic preschool program continues through the summer months to help children learn, play, and grow in a nurturing environment.

Designed for children 18 months – 6 years, RSG blends the structure of an early learning program with the expertise of our therapy team to support:
• Social connection and peer play
• Communication and language development
• Emotional regulation
• Independence and daily routines
• Early school readiness skills

Children learn through play, routines, and meaningful interactions while building confidence at their own pace.

Starting school is a big shift, not just academically, but emotionally and neurologically, too.

Those first-week tears, extra tired afternoons, or big feelings don’t mean a child “isn’t ready.” More often, they mean their nervous system is doing the hard work of adjusting.

At In2Great, we look beyond behavior. We focus on regulation, connection, and functional participation, because when a child feels safe and supported, learning can follow.

Yes… we taped balloons to a stool. 🎈
And yes… there’s shaving cream involved.
But this is pediatric OT at its finest.

Toilet hygiene is a critical life skill — and for many children, learning how to wipe thoroughly can be challenging. It requires:
🧠 Body awareness
✋🏼 Bilateral coordination
📍 Spatial awareness
🧻 Motor planning
🚽 Independence skills

Using a fun, hands-on visual like this helps children:
✔ Understand how much pressure to use
✔ Learn the correct wiping motion
✔ Practice “wipe until it’s white” in a safe, silly, low-pressure way
When therapy feels playful, kids are more engaged — and skills stick.
