Future first responders in the making! ❤️🚑

AMR Western New York was so proud to be part of Career Day at Tapestry Charter School.

Our very own community liaison, Smiley McCarter, gave students an inside look at what it’s really like to work in EMS. From touring the ambulance and learning about life-saving equipment to answering questions about becoming a first responder - opportunities like this truly matter.

You never know which student might be inspired to answer the call and serve their community one day!

Thank you to Tapestry Middle School for welcoming us so warmly and giving us the opportunity to connect with such bright, curious young minds. We can't wait to be back for future events!

Western New York, we need you ‼️

EMS has long been underfunded by Medicaid in New York, and rising costs continue to outpace inflation. Now, a proposed Medicaid crossover cut threatens to further destabilize ambulance services across the state, putting emergency response resources at risk.

The United New York Ambulance Network (UNYAN) has launched a grassroots advocacy effort urging our elected officials in Albany to reject this cut and it takes less than two minutes to make your voice heard!

Your support could make a meaningful difference in protecting EMS services across Western New York.

Click here to complete the advocacy request. Please also consider forwarding it to your friends and family. The more voices our representatives hear, the stronger our message will be.

Thank you for your support 🚑🚨

Kayla Morrell's EMS career at AMR has shown serious momentum. After three years with the company, we’re thrilled to celebrate her recent certification as part of the 2024–2025 Paramedic graduating class!

Looking ahead, Kayla hopes to continue growing into a supervisory role and she’s already well on her way. She credits her drive to a high school mentor, who was a paramedic himself and encouraged her to chase her dreams in EMS.

When she’s not doing the important, fast-paced work of emergency medical services, Kayla is a proud Western New Yorker who loves the food, the community and the Buffalo Bills 📣

Congratulations on this incredible EMS accomplishment, Kayla! We’re excited to watch you continue to grow and lead. 🚑

Congratulations, Brianne Meyer! đźš‘

Brianne has been a dedicated member of the AMR Western New York family for 9 years, instructing multiple classes while continuing her own journey in EMS. We’re proud to celebrate her incredible achievement of completing her coursework as an EMT and now Paramedic.

Inspired by her cousin, Nicky and the many medics she’s worked alongside over the past decade, Brianne’s passion for emergency medical services is clear. And we’re lucky - she plans to continue her EMS career right here at AMR.

When asked what advice she’d give to someone just starting out, Brianne keeps it simple and powerful: “Be yourself.”

Congratulations again, Brianne. It’s been a pleasure watching you grow, and we can’t wait to see all that’s ahead for you!

Maggie Tillman was selected as our "Dispatcher of the Month" for December. Maggie consistently demonstrates her dedication and is often overheard saying, “I love AMR — no, really, I do.”

When the dispatch center needs help, she is often one of the first to step up, staying late or picking up additional shifts to ensure operations continue smoothly. Maggie also serves as one of our lead dispatchers, seamlessly stepping into a leadership role while continuing to develop her skills.

Her ability to support and guide the team while simultaneously managing a busy dispatch system is no easy task, yet she handles these responsibilities with confidence, professionalism and a sincere calm under pressure.

She has played a significant role in training new employees, often supporting multiple trainees without missing a beat. Maggie brings patience, consistency and creativity to training - even taking the initiative to develop her own interactive tools to reinforce lessons learned. This extra effort reflects her deep commitment to team success and long-term growth.

Maggie embodies teamwork, ownership, and reliability. Her willingness to step up, support others and find innovative ways to strengthen our team makes her exceptionally deserving of this recognition!

Nice job, Maggie! Thank you for EVERYTHING you do!

Last night was filled with powerful moments of celebration. We enjoyed having Councilwoman Everhart there with us to help uplift our graduating class!

Her words perfectly capture the heart of EMS. We’re so grateful for the continued support of the Buffalo Common Council and for recognizing these 13 new EMTs.

Thank you, Councilman Everhart, for championing our first responders and the future of public safety in Buffalo!
