Another reason we love our SMRC team… One of our team members, Jacob Brott, kindly brought in his 4½-month-old White Face Cockatiel, Yuki, to visit with our residents, and she was an instant hit. Hand-raised since hatching, Yuki has the sweetest and most curious personality and is just beginning to fly short distances. She also has a talent for stealing hearts, and occasionally snacks, or trying to investigate smiles a little too closely. Our residents truly enjoyed meeting her, and we are grateful to Jacob for sharing such a special experience with our community.

Today, we’re excited to officially welcome Mariah Schrader as our new Chief Operating Officer.

Over the past several years, Sunshine Meadows has continued to grow not just in size, but in complexity, opportunity, and impact. As we’ve entered this new season, it has become clear that we need dedicated leadership focused on the day-to-day operations that keep everything running smoothly, sustainably, and with excellence.

Mariah brings exactly what this moment calls for: steady leadership, a deep respect for our mission, and the ability to turn vision into systems that truly support our residents, staff, and families. I’m incredibly grateful for her willingness to step into this role and help lead us forward.

Yesterday, Rachel Perry, RN, DON, and Mariah Schrader, Human Resources Director traveled to the Kansas State Capitol to represent our community during Aging Services Day.

During the visit, they had the opportunity to meet with Representative Paul Waggoner and Senator Mike Murphy to advocate on behalf of residents and highlight the importance of strong support for aging services.

This experience reinforced Sunshine Meadows’ commitment to ensuring the voices of residents and caregivers are represented at the legislative level and reflected the organization’s dedication to advancing quality care across the aging services continuum.

Our team is so important to us. Today we had the joy of celebrating two wonderful team members for their longevity and dedication. Londa, our MDS Coordinator, has been with SMRC for 10 years. Michelle, Selah’s CMA Coordinator, has been with SMRC for 26 years. Thank you both for your hard work and commitment. You have helped make Sunshine Meadows a truly wonderful home for our residents.

Sunshine Meadows is a comfortable, friendly place to call home, whatever your needs.
