Read Across America Week Day ✋🏻

📚 The best speech & language activity might already be on your bookshelf.

Reading together helps children develop:
✨ Vocabulary
✨ Listening skills
✨ Storytelling ability
✨ Conversation skills
✨ Confidence communicating

Books open the door to imagination, learning, and connection.

The best part?
Just 10–15 minutes of reading a day can make a powerful difference in a child’s language development.

📖 This week for Read Across America, we celebrated how books build communication skills that last a lifetime.

💬 Keep the momentum going!
What book are you reading with your child this weekend?

Read Across America Week Day 4️⃣!

📖 Retelling stories strengthens language!

When children can describe the beginning, middle, and end, they’re building:
✨ Sequencing
✨ Narrative skills
✨ Comprehension
✨ Classroom readiness

Storytelling helps children organize their thoughts and communicate clearly — skills they’ll use every day in school and conversation.

💬 After reading, ask your child:
“What happened first?”

Then keep going:
➡️ What happened next?
➡️ How did the story end?

Small moments like this build BIG language skills.

👇 Tell me in the comments:
What book did your child retell today?

Read Across America Week Day 3️⃣

Rhyming = powerful speech practice! 🎵

When kids hear patterns in words, they build phonological awareness — a key skill for BOTH reading and articulation.

Try this:
“What rhymes with cat?” 🐱

Make it silly. Make it fun. Make it daily.

Happy Birthday to Dr. Seuss! 🎉📚

His playful rhymes aren’t just fun — they’re powerful.

When children hear rhyme and rhythm, they build phonological awareness — a foundational skill for BOTH reading and clear speech. 🗣️

Rhyming helps children:
✨ Hear sound patterns
✨ Strengthen speech production
✨ Build early literacy skills

Tonight, try this:
Pause before the rhyming word and let your child fill it in!

Rhyme today. Read tomorrow. Speak confidently for life. 💛

Your child worked so hard this school year 🤍

🎯 They practiced tricky sounds
📚 They built reading and language skills
🗣️ They gained confidence speaking in class

Even though it’s early spring, summer is just around the corner ☀️
And when school speech services pause, progress can pause too!

💛 Summer bridge sessions are designed to gently maintain and strengthen the skills they’ve already built — so they don’t have to start over in the fall.

✨ A little consistency now can mean:
✅ Stronger carryover into conversation
✅ Better reading confidence
✅ Easier transition into the next grade
🙌 More raised hands and classroom participation

💌 Let’s protect the progress they worked so hard for!

🚗 Our favorite car game: “I’m Thinking Of…”

One person gives clues about something they’re thinking of and everyone else guesses.
So simple, but SO good for little brains.

As an SLP mom I love that it works on:
✨ describing
✨ listening
✨ inferring
✨ vocabulary

No prep, no screens — just easy connection on long (or short!) car rides 🥰

Try it on your next drive and tell me in the comments what your kids guess first! 🚗💬

Every child deserves therapy that’s based on their needs—not insurance rules 🤍

We’re a private-pay pediatric speech therapy clinic so we can provide flexible, individualized, play-based care without restrictions on session length, frequency, or goals. This allows us to focus on what matters most: your child’s growth and real-life communication.

We offer clear, upfront pricing and accept HSA/FSA funds. Many families also choose to submit a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

We know this model isn’t right for every family—and that’s okay. Our commitment is to ethical, child-centered care, always.

Communication Boards

Empowering Connections is devoted to creating opportunities for communication and connection between individuals with complex communication needs and non disabled individuals through the use of communication boards. Our communication boards are customized and designed for use in a variety of settings including, playgrounds (indoor and outdoor), waiting rooms, and other settings, to facilitate functional communication between all individuals. It is our dream that all individuals will be able to interact and engage in play with one another with the use of our boards. After all, “Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning.”- Mr. Rogers.
