The Campus Safety Group, LLC is a growing cadre of educators, law enforcement professionals, and planning experts with years of experience in problem solving through collaborative efforts. Campus Safety Group provides training, consultation, and guidance to school staff and stakeholders desirous of completing meaningful site specific safe school plans. Campus Safety Group conducts seminars designed to assist new college students and their parents identify, avoid, and respond to concerns surrounding campus life. Campus Safety Group offers training and tools for parents to prepare their own age appropriate safe school plans coordinated with existing school and community resources.

This article highlights exactly why the comprehensive school safety plan law was created. Stakeholders at every pblic school are required to annually review safety factors/trends and make adjustments as needed.

Teachers and administrators are seeing an increase in aggressive and sometimes violent behavior among students.

The Educator's Guide to Comprehensive School Safety Plans has just been released by the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). The Guide is a collaborative effort involving LACOE, the California Department of Education, the California Department of Justice, and other stakeholder agencies. A quick look at the acknowledgments and you will see that Campus Safety Group's own Tom Steele wrote the Guide and Eric Rosoff prepared the included compliance template. Slowly but surely the reality is setting in for parents and politicians that "school safety" is not, and should not be, the responsibility of law enforcement. School safety is a specific safety genre with unique needs and nuance. Certainly, law enforcement as well as other first responders provide valuable expertise. However, keeping our schools safe requires a stakeholder based process led by educators. The attached article highlights some of the challenges when the educator/law enforcement balance is lost.

School shootings and lockdown drills. One has prompted the widespread practice of the other, even though mass school shootings are rare. See firsthand what these kids go through and how it makes them feel in our special report.

So excited about how close we are to kids being back in school. Please remember to consider how covid rules may impact existing safety protocols. As were ramping up... leaders should be running admin tabletop safety drills to see how/if covid rules might impact something like a fire drill etc...

This event will focus on how to resume operations and successfully navigate the new landscape for a safe return to work in the new normal of the pandemic. Additional topics will include leadership lessons and the global challenges we’re facing in the 21st century.

Day 2 of the symposium will focus on the global landscape with contributions from a cross-section of industry experts and practitioners, with sessions dedicated to helping government officials and public authorities to communicate effectively with the public during the pandemic

We are proud to highlight the incredible work of Campus Safety Group’s Executive Manager, Soraya Sutherlin, during the COVID-19 crisis. Her unique skills and background thrust her into the position of Joint Information Center (JIC) Manager for the 14 communities comprising Southern California’s “South Bay”. She has also become the liaison for the Los Angeles Area Fire Chiefs in the LA Joint Regional Information Center (JRIC).
