Dark PNW winters, Vitamin D, and teeth… the lesser-known connection.

We all know the drill (no pun intended) — months of gray skies, barely any sunlight, and dropping Vitamin D levels. And yes, Vitamin D matters for bone health.

But there’s a lesser-known connection to your teeth and gums — especially when Vitamin K enters the picture.

Here’s the TL;DR:
Vitamin D levels fall into “insufficient” or “deficient.”

Deficient: Rare and tied to major systemic issues. (

At is core, biomimetic dentistry is the philosophy that to adequately restore teeth, we must “mimic life” and understand the natural tooth in its entirety.

Conserving more intact natural tooth structure is paramount to this approach.

The biomimetically restored tooth is better suited to withstand stresses and therefore have the best chance of long-term success.

Complete dentures can be a cost-effective and transformative treatment option.

In this case, there were multiple missing teeth, and the remaining teeth were severely affected by periodontal disease.

Complete upper and lower dentures replaced all teeth and produced a fantastic smile.

Best part is, if the patient decides later they'd like to have implants to secure the dentures, not a problem, we can do that!

If you or someone you know could benefit from a treatment like this, give us a call.

There’s more to tooth crowding than appearance — why parents should check if their child has a narrow upper jaw

Narrow upper and lower jaws can contribute to several issues as a child grows:
-Increased likelihood of a deviated nasal septum, which may affect ease of breathing through the nose
-Greater risk of sleep-disordered breathing, which can lead to daytime tiredness, decreased attention and focus, behavioral challenges, bedwetting, and slower overall growth
-A higher chance of needing significant orthodontic correction (braces) as an adolescent or adult
-Excessive tooth wear
-Gum recession in adulthood

Early intervention with jaw expansion has a high rate of success and can:
-Correct a narrow jaws and naturally improve crowding
-Reduce the chance of developing or worsening nasal septum deviation
-Improve airflow and breathing during sleep
-Lessen future crowding, making orthodontic treatment simpler and shorter in the future
-Decrease the likelihood of premature tooth wear and gum recession as an adult

For patients ages 8 - 10, a typical treatment includes:
1) Upper and lower expanders - 3-6 months of active expansion
2) Holding phase - expander remains in place for 3–4 months to allow the teeth and bone to stabilize
3) Final orthodontics, if needed, to fine-tune teeth positions

Curious if your child’s jaw growth is on track? Schedule an evaluation with us today — early detection can make all the difference for life-long dental health.

Here are 7 key advantages we've seen with Invisalign over traditional braces based on 17 years of patient exams.

1. Covered benefit
If you have orthodontic dental insurance benefits, Invisalign is covered just like regular braces. No additional cost.

2. Faster Results
In many cases, Invisalign has achieved results in less time than regular braces — without the bulky metal brackets or wires.

3. Fewer Office Visits
Braces require in-office adjustments to wires and elastics every few weeks. Invisalign aligners are changed at home, working with your busy schedule.

4. Whitening
Invisalign aligners can be used for whitening during treatment.

5. Less root damage
Invisalign moves teeth using gradual, intermittent forces. Traditional braces apply constant forces, which increases the risk of root resorption (shortening of tooth roots).

6. Fewer cavities
Brushing and flossing are a lot easier with removable aligners. With braces, we often see patients struggle with plaque build-up around brackets - leading to white spots when they are removed. Flossing around the wire is also a lot harder - leading to cavities between teeth.

7. No messy impressions
Invisalign is all digital - no impressions needed, no mess, no gagging.

Thinking you’d like Invisalign? Now is the time.
Enjoy all these benefits of Invisalign treatment, in addition to regular dental cleanings and cavity prevention all at one office.

Call to schedule a consultation and start treatment right away. Most all orthodontic dental insurances accepted.
