Hasan Abdessamad, MD FRCSC FACOG Sharing health information, communicating with patients, answering health questions, updating my professional profile, leaving my electronic footprint

With information overload provided by the internet comes a lack of credibility of sources used, this has significantly impacted how the 21st century person learns about ones health. Health care providers lag behind in keeping up with the electronic revolution at a time where their presence is becoming essential to rectify the imbalance in available information. I blog at habdessamad.com whenever my time allows me, I tweet at and I use this page to raise health awareness, communicate with my patients and network within my field. Thank you for joining me here.

Today I received the 2nd shot of the Pfizer COVID19 vaccine. It’s been 3 weeks since my first shot and I did not have any side effects. I feel relief to know I’m 95% less likely to bring this horrible virus to my family or patients.

To me: the proven benefits outweigh potential risks. I got the COVID19 vaccine today.

It warms my heart to see our hospital taking care of the wellbeing of all staff during these challenging times.

For past week: unlimited & free refreshments, fruits, soup & bread while at work: “We want to ensure you have unlimited access to the nourishment you need to stay well and healthy”

Today: dried beans, rice 🍚 and pasta 🍝: “Thank you for your hard work and dedication”

The one-visitor policy at our birthing center is very difficult for birthing mothers without their support people and for families missing out on birth of little ones. Creative minds at Highline Hospital came up with this alternative for grandma to witness the birth of her first grandchild. It’s happened again since this story.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. This one certainly tells a story. We wanted to learn more about the family celebrating a newborn baby, while separated through a window.
