Prevent Blindness Texas partners with key resource partners to support individuals along the full continuum of eye care. These strategic partnerships allow us to provide eligible individuals with financial assistance for free comprehensive eye exams and/or eyeglasses through the referral component of our program. By working together with our resource partners, we ensure that those we serve are connected to the appropriate eye care services they need.

Undetected vision problems can impact your child’s performance both in and out of the classroom. Therefore, it’s important to understand eye health so you can recognize the signs that your child may have a vision problem and possibly need glasses.

It can be difficult to know if your child has vision problems. A Johns Hopkins eye expert provides tips to help you recognize if your child may need glasses.

Drug Take-Back Program
Next Event:
April 25, 2026 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WalMart parking lot, 951 SW Wilshire Blvd
Pathway Church, 325 NW Renfro St (NW Tarrant, Door 4)

The Burleson Police Department is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) for the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.

Anyone may drop off unused, expired or unwanted medications, in both pill and liquid form, for safe disposal. This includes over-the-counter as well as prescription drugs. The Burleson Police Department and the Citizens on Patrol will be working this event.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications.

Want to drop off before the next take-back event?
As part of the Burleson Police Department's commitment to providing a safe community, a drug drop box is available in the lobby of the police department, 1161 SW Wilshire Blvd. This box is available to the public Monday through Sunday, 24 hours a day, to deposit unneeded prescription and over-the-counter medications.

For additional information about this program, please send an email.

The Prescription Drug Take-Back events provide a way for patients, caregivers, and pet owners to dispose of controlled substance medications such as painkillers, sedatives, and stimulants like ADHD drugs instead of flushing them down the toilet or throwing them in the trash.

To learn more about proper disposal of medicines – between Drug Take Back events – go to the EPA flyer, "How to dispose of medicines properly."

Proper disposal of medicines protects you by preventing poisoning of children and pets; deterring misuse by teenagers and adults; avoiding health problems from accidentally taking the wrong medicine, too much of the same medicine, or a medicine that is too old to work well; and, keeping medicines from entering streams and rivers when poured down the drain or flushed down the toilet.

Disposing of Needles and Syringes
Place needles and syringes in a hard plastic (ex: laundry detergent bottles) or metal container with a tightly secured lid. (The container should be labeled “Syringes,” “Sharps,” or “Needles.”)
Keep the container out of the reach of children and pets.
When the container is full, seal and reinforce its lid with heavy-duty tape.
Dispose of the sealed container in the household trash. Learn more.

National Poison Prevention Week (NPPW) 2026 is March 15th – 21st. This year's theme is "When The Unexpected Happens."

In 1961, the United States Congress established the third week in March as National Poison Prevention Week (P.L. 87-319). During NPPW, poison centers across the nation unite to increase poison prevention awareness.

Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs) can be extremely serious. Unlike most injuries, they can directly alter brain function and have a severe impact on your mental health. Some patients even develop addictions following TBI, whether or not they have a history of substance abuse.

Even a relatively mild concussion can cause long-term symptoms. And because those symptoms won’t necessarily appear right away, it can be hard to see the connection between TBI and subsequent mental health issues. After sustaining any type of head trauma, it’s important to see a doctor and learn about your options for recovery. Depending on your exact experience, you may benefit from getting treatment at a residential rehab.

Although TBIs are physical injuries, they can cause mental health issues—and even addiction. Rehab can help you heal both your body and mind.

Every March, MS Focus: the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation dedicates National MS Education and Awareness Month to empowering, educating, and uniting the MS community. Our theme for 2026, Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow: Four decades of MS Focus, puts the focus on topics such as 40 years of breakthroughs in diagnoses, treatment options, and access.

Your journey with MS is more than a diagnosis. It’s about addressing the whole person — your mind, body, relationships, and overall well-being. Throughout the month, we’ll explore the seven domains of holistic health, offer expert-led discussions, and provide resources to help you take charge of your MS journey.
