Wednesday Mental Health Moment: Olympic-Level Grit (Without the Spandex)

Watching the Olympics, it’s easy to focus on the big moments—the medals, the podium, the celebration.

What we don’t see are the thousands of moments behind the scenes…
The early mornings.
The bad days.
The days they didn’t feel motivated at all—but showed up anyway.

Mental health works the same way.

Grit isn’t waking up every day feeling strong and confident.
Grit is showing up when you feel tired.
Grit is trying again after a hard day.
Grit is continuing forward—even when your brain would prefer to dramatically lie on the floor and refuse to participate.

Progress is rarely flashy. It’s built in quiet, ordinary moments of not giving up on yourself.

So if today feels hard, remind yourself:
You don’t need to win a gold medal.
You just need to keep showing up.

That counts more than you think.

Each month, I’ll be sharing insight, practical tools, and gentle guidance, to help navigate common emotional and relationship challenges.

Since February is often centered around relationships, this month‘s topic focuses on communication – especially how emotions can impact how we listen, respond, and connect, with others. The newsletter includes simple, but powerful strategies that can make a meaningful difference in everyday conversations.

My hope is that this provides helpful perspective and support, whether you’re actively in therapy or simply interested in improving your emotional well-being.
