One of the most familiar countdown commands is, “ready, set, go!” Oftentimes you can hear this phrase used in speech therapy to bring joint attention into the activity as well as giving the child a familiar phrase that they can imitate or produce to signal a request. But the fun doesn’t have to stop at ready, set, go. Here are some other examples that can be used-

It is easy to be drawn to familiar and preferred toys when engaging in play with our children. However, showing how to use preferred toys with novel toys builds important pretend play skills.💜

In this session, we used preferred baby dolls, targeting action words (eg brush, eat, drink, etc). The therapist targeted the same action words with animals, building vocabulary, understanding, and ability to follow simple commands.💙

In today’s speech therapy session, we focused on expanding sentence length and helping kids understand basic attributes like size, color, and quantity — key building blocks for stronger language skills! We used books and a flashlight to find objects that we discussed. ✨

We practiced using describing words in full sentences (e.g., “The big red ball” or “I see three blue blocks”) to help children communicate more clearly and confidently. When kids learn to use attributes, they build vocabulary, improve comprehension, and develop more meaningful expressive language.

Small skills add up to big communication growth! 💜💙

Effective March 13, 2026, Children’s Therapy Solutions will be concluding Physical Therapy (PT) Services. This was not an easy decision, and we are incredibly grateful for the families and therapists who have been part of our PT journey over the years.💜

Bingo is a great way to address a variety of skills such as language and articulation! Using dot paint, stickers, or themed manipulatives can help make a familiar game seem more exciting and new!💜

To keep our Valentines theme going, we used small valentines objects to cover each target word! We spent time describing the valentines objects to build language and help those articulation skills generalize, too!💙

Pretend play is a critical stage in developing a variety of play skills and often blends into cooperative play as children start to create scenarios together.

To help facilitate pretend play skills today, we took turns being the baker and creating new chocolates. We pretended to cook the chocolates, top them with icing, place them inside of the cupcake liners, and even pretended eating them!

Don’t be afraid to let your child take the lead during pretend play! There is no “wrong” way to play!💙💜

Here are a few ways you can use open ended pictures to help increase practice at home! First, find an open ended picture such as this love bug! Next you can:

❤️cover each dot in stickers
🩷use dot paint to complete each dot
❤️use markers, crayons, or colored pencils
🩷make small balls of playdoh and have the child squish them with their hands/fingers

The more circles you have on your picture, the more words/sounds/practice the child completes before completing the picture! It’s okay to take breaks if you are unable to complete the activity in one sitting!💙

This week we worked on introducing new foods and by doing this we addressed decreasing sensory sensitivities towards those new foods.😋💜

We talked about the appearance, texture, smell, and taste of each food. Trying new foods can be challenging for some kiddos, but we're working towards meeting our therapy goals through fun, patience, and consistency."🥘💙

More complex emotions such as determined, overwhelmed, and frustrated can be challenging concepts to understand. In this activity, we used picture scenes to discuss how others may be feeling as well as helping to solve any problems that may be causing those feelings. We used motivating speech buttons to practice labeling feelings while also having fun interacting in the session! 💜💙
