Gluteal tendinopathy involves irritation or degeneration of the tendons that attach the glute muscles to the hip, often causing lateral hip pain, stiffness, and discomfort with walking, sitting, or sleeping on one side.

Massage therapy can help support recovery by:
• Reducing muscle tension in the gluteal muscles and surrounding hip structures
• Improving circulation to irritated tissues, supporting healing
• Decreasing compensatory tightness in the low back, IT band, and thighs
• Improving mobility and comfort during daily activities
• Helping calm the nervous system, which may reduce pain sensitivity

While massage does not “cure” tendinopathy, it can be a valuable part of a comprehensive care plan when combined with appropriate load management, strengthening, and rest.
