As a native New Yorker I do miss the zany creativity of the NYC Easter Parade. This year’s Arron Award goes to this fun ode to NYC (and my old neighborhood, with a mini CBGB!). Most importantly it has a broad brim to block sun exposure to the ears and shield the face. And also to hold the taxicabs. Happy Easter to all who celebrate!

March 30 is National Doctors Day! I’m so fortunate to work with my boss & colleage Dr. Marie Jhin , the founder and leader of Premier Aesthetic Dermatology . The aesthetic space is crowded with non-physician “providers” and “injectors” who would make you believe expertise comes from a ring light and a cute video. Dr. Jhin and I offer the real expertise that comes from medical school, dermatology residency, board certification, and ongoing medical education. (We also have ring lights and cute videos, because why not have fun with it?)

The American College of Mohs Surgery Foundation supports an outstanding initiative called Mohs Surgeons Leading the Future. This yearlong mentorship program provides eight early career surgeon leadership training, career mentorship, and exposure to the strategic goals of the Mohs College.

This has been my fourth year as a career mentor for the program and it has been a fantastic experience working with my mentee Dr. Ricardo Guerra this year. We’ve had monthly phone calls covering a variety of topics, but for our last meeting of the year we decided to meet in person for a celebratory lunch. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful afternoon on the Embarcadero!

The field of Mohs surgery is fortunate to have rising stars like Dr. Guerra (Kaiser San Rafael is lucky too!)
