Concrete wallcoverings give the space a clean, modern backdrop, while the fireplace wall in pewter-toned metal adds a subtle strength. A wood slat ceiling brings warmth and rhythm, and the white oak front desk provides a natural, welcoming allure. Inspired by the work of Tadao Ando and the quiet elegance of Issey Miyake, the space feels modern yet timeless — classic in a fresh, understated way.

From the entrance to the walk-up stairs, roof, and concrete wall finish, we reimagined the overall style to achieve a timeless, modern design—grounded, yet elegant, and free from fleeting trends. Located in Los Altos Hills, this project captures a sophisticated balance between form and function.

In this pool house project, I chose Farrow & Ball’s Smelt Black for the ceiling to ground the space with a sense of depth and warmth, creating a comfortable gathering area. The large daybed, with its movable back supports, offers versatility—perfect for lounging or transforming into a cozy guest room. Monochromatic sand tones, textured elements, subtle patterns, and a hint of understated glam bring everything together for a flexible and inviting multi-use space.
