The Secret Cure for Stress...that Your Doctor Won’t Tell You

We’re overwhelmed. Our to-do list is a mile long, our inbox is a beast that never sleeps, and that low hum of anxiety has become our new normal. We’ve all tried deep breathing, considered meditation apps, and definitely stress-eaten a bag of chips (or two) at 3 PM because in your mind it's too early to eat dinner. I feel you.

Confessions from a Female Coach: It’s Easier Than You Think

Let me tell you a secret. People walk into the gym and see the barbells, the pull-up bars, the ropes, and the sweat. They hear the clanging plates and sounds of exertion from people in class. They watch from a safe distance, thinking, “Wow! I could never do that.” And I’m here to tell you, with all my heart: You’re wrong. You CAN do this.

The biggest misconception about strength training isn’t about the intensity or the technical lifts. It’s the belief that it’s only for the already-fit, the already-fearless, the already-strong.

My confession? It’s easier than you think. Not the workouts—they’re always a challenge. Coming in with no experience – doesn’t matter because we will teach you. The tough part is starting. It should be simple because you’re here looking for Community and Accountability.

So what’s holding you back? Is it Accountability?
Motivation is fickle. It comes and goes. It’s the feeling that gets you to sign up...AND accountability is what gets you through the door on a rainy Tuesday when you’re tired and your motivation has left the building.

In my opinion, accountability is:
* The coach who expects to see you and will gently check in if you vanish. (That's me!)
* The crew who will notice your empty spot and wonder where you are. (Don't worry - they'll text you to check in.)*

When you know people are waiting for you, showing up becomes non-negotiable. And showing up is 90% of the battle.

So, here is my final confession as a coach: My job isn’t to make you the fittest person in the gym. My job is to:

• Help you become a better version of yourself.
• Introduce you to your community.
• Help you stay accountable to the person who matters most—you.

Stop waiting. Stop thinking it’s too hard. The hardest part is walking through the door for the first time. And I promise you, once you do, you’ll find a room full of people who remember what that felt like.

We’re waiting to welcome you.

If you opened my closet right now, you’d assume one of two things: either I’m an extremely dedicated fitness enthusiast or I’m operating a secret athleisure boutique. The truth is, it’s a little bit of both.

The Shoe Situation

My shoe rack looks like a running store after an earthquake. I have:

“Just for Coaching” sneakers: These never leave the gym. They’re stored at my desk and don’t go farther than in the gym and some occasional 400m runs. I coach anywhere from 2 to 6 hours per day and having a solid pair of sneakers is a must.

“Outside of the Gym” sneaker: There are a few of these for errands and anything outside of the gym and sometimes my “just coaching” sneakers” are retired and come home too. These aren’t beat up old shoes, and they shouldn’t be. Always have supportive shoes!

“Serious Running” Shoes: Worn exactly twice. They’re so technical they practically lace themselves, but apparently, they can’t actually make you want to run.

Lifting Shoes: For Olympic lifting. Yeah!

Super Brightly Colored Sneakers: For motivation of course because bright pink and orange are a must for everyone.

The Great Legging Dilemma

The struggle is real especially for a curvy girl. And pockets! OMG, I love, love, love pockets and they’re tough to find. I prefer them on the side, and preferably two pockets, but that’s a big ask. I can make one pocket work but two would be dreamy when I’m coaching and have to juggle the timer and class check-ins. (Shout out to Sweaty Betty leggings for pockets!)
