Our Story

Sam Morayati, MD, is a board-certified internal medicine specialist. At Burlington Medical Center/Carolina Nuclear Medicine, he provides comprehensive care to adults throughout Burlington, North Carolina. Dr. Morayati’s goal is to deliver personalized care and the latest technology to his patients. Dr. Morayati attended medical school in Basra and Baghdad, Iraq. Following graduation, he completed fellowships, and residency programs from St. Bartholomew’s Medical School in London, England, and William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak and Troy, Michigan. Dr. Morayati received his Master's Degree in Nuclear Medicine from the University of London, England. Since 1991, he has served the Burlington, Alamance County, and Piedmont communities of North Carolina as an internist and multi-specialty physician. Trusted for 30 years, Dr. Morayati is board certified by the American College of Nuclear Medicine, the American Board of Family Medicine, and the American Board of Nuclear Cardiology. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), the American College of Nuclear Medicine (FACNM), the American College of Endocrinology (FACE), and the American Academy of Family Physicians (FAAFP). Highly regarded in his field, Dr. Morayati is a past president of the American College of Nuclear Medicine, has received scholarships from the United Nations International Atomic Energy Commission (IAEC), and was listed by the Consumer Research Council as a top American physician in 2007 and 2008. Dr. Morayati has also been recognized for his research and dedication to his field on multiple occasions, including winning the Outstanding Scientific Paper Award from the American Academy of Family Practice and the Hans Koek Award for outstanding scientific achievement.
