What's your favorite relaxation strategy? One of mine is alternate nostril breathing, or "Nadi Shodana". This is done by blocking one of your nostrils and breathing slowly in and out, and then switching to the other nostril and breathing slowly in and out. You should repeat this alternating nostril breathing for several minutes. When you do this, your body moves into your parasympathetic state or your "rest and digest" state. It is also a great way to combat anxiety!
From systemic pain and inflammation to the everyday challenges of modern living, chronic stress can take a toll on our digestive health.
The key to managing it? Rest and digest. 🧘♀️
Not only does relaxation support effective digestion, but it's also essential for insulin release. When stressed, lower levels of insulin secretion may inhibit food molecules from reaching their intended destination(s). This can lead to elevated blood sugar levels and a lack of sustained energy.
Prioritizing relaxation as a method of stress management can go a long way in promoting proper digestive function and overall well-being.
Remember, rest is essential for a happy, healthy gut!
