Bill's Bio:
Your teachers and clients might be asking themselves who is this Bill OāConnor and why does he think he can take the reins from our beloved Kelley.
I thought I would give you a bio to offer.
My passions are limited but intense. Among them are my wife, my dog, sailing and yogaā¦in no particular order š
About yoga; I believe it is the āfountain of youthā. I believe it is the seat of the soul. I believe itās power when practiced with acute devotion can be limitless.
For me yoga is the union of the mind and the body. When that yoke is firmly established the higher human powers that we all possess can blossom and flower.
To create that union both intense concentration and wild abandon are necessary. Movement, I believe, is key. We, as animals, are made to move. Movement is not only healthy medicine but is necessary to thrive. The expression ānutritious movementā is what best embodies my approach to yoga.
I have been teaching yoga for 17 years at various area studios (Burlington Yoga, Evolution Yoga, UVM and now Hot Yoga BVT), in parks and on docks and marinas, Yoga on Church Street for 2 years, in French and in Sanskrit, with young children, and senior adults. I have taught to people of all abilities and disabilities.
My training includes;
YTT-200 Ansuara Inspired in Montreal Ca
YTT-300 Barkan Method with Jimmy Barkan in Ft Lauderdale
YTT-300 Prana Flow with Shiva Rae & Coral Brown in Providence RI
Countless seminars and workshops with some of the most knowledgeable yogis nationally and internationally
Currently I teach 10-15 classes weekly. I am E-RYT-500 certified with Yoga Alliance with over 4,000 documented teaching hours.
Hot Yoga is my love. As I tell my students I was teaching room temp vinyasa yoga yet practicing Bikram Yoga for myself. I love the heat. I thrive in the heat. I thought, why not marry my vinyasa style of yoga with the heat of Bikram? So I created and thought I had invented vinyasa not realizing it was already a growing national phenomena.
This was 8 years ago
From there I added the amazing Far Infrared Heat and a modern evidence based approach to movement yoga. This is Hot Yoga Burlington VT for now.
I still love Bikram and have developed an enhanced vinyasa/Bikram flow. I hope to create a studio where multiple approaches to yoga can grow. Itās all one yoga with different expressions, like we humans with different personalities.
Hereās to the future of hot yoga.
Bill OāConnor
