Many of you have been asking my opinion on the sound therapy beds. Not one to give uneducated opinions- I popped into Kyn & Co Salon & Suites today to try out their TUNE Bed.
When first entering the salon, I was struck by how beautiful it is inside, and just how dang happy everyone seemed. I was promptly greeted and made to feel welcome. I was shown to the room with the bed. It is simple and comfortable and there is an obvious focus on cleanliness. The service was thoroughly explained and staff ensured I had no questions. Eye coverings, and other items for comfort are provided.
I put on the headphones and lied down. There are different programs to select from, like sleep, creativity, etc. I had chosen the program for Focus. The sounds started up in the headphones and all other sounds disappeared. It did not take long before I was taken to an altered state of consciousness. (I won't bore you with talk of alpha , beta theta etc, just think relaxed)
When the session ended- I felt refreshed, un- rushed, and ready to enter a big store during this season 🤣
I have also been asked if as I further my education in sound healing, do I worry about devices like this bed rendering my services obsolete. Absolutely not. The sound program I chose was expertly executed. The progression of sounds followed the healing arc and did not leave me feeling scattered or that it was somehow incomplete. I do highly recommend this bed, at this location. But I do not worry about being replaced. This is a fantastic machine. But just like a massage gun or chair- does not have intuition. It cannot adjust techniques based on observations of the client. But i think sessions in this bed can be a highly beneficial addition to anyone's self care routine, and excellent for a "pick me up" between sessions with your favorite practitioner, as an introduction to sound healing, or when you just need a bit of relaxation or escape from this crazy 'ol world.
If I was forced to point out one "con", it would be this. At the end of in person sound healing sessions, there's typically a period of silence to allow the vibrations to "absorb" and for folks to "return" gently in their own time. When the sounds end in the headphones, the jubilant sounds of the happily busy salon are definitely heard. But this did not detract from my experience in the least.
So my review of this experience - 9.75/10. Know that it is not tailored specifically you like a human could do, know that you're entering and exiting a busy salon full of happy sounds, know that it is a device- a piece of equipment that cannot hold you through an emotional release. Set your expectations appropriately and you will be MORE than satisfied. This is a tool. An easy thing you can do for yourself without waiting on a practitioner to have an appointment available for you (or to finish their training). I'll be returning to try the other programs- and if you try one before me- please share your experience!
The cost is $25. They sell packages of 4 sessions for $80. That's a dang good price for a little peace!
(And you deserve some peace)
