From scenic hikes to inspiring art adventures, our residents are always on the move! Last week, they traveled to Dix Park to experience the whimsical, larger-than-life troll sculptures created by internationally renowned recycle art activist Thomas Dambo.

Built from reclaimed wood and nestled among the trees, these imaginative creations are as meaningful as they are magical. Each troll invites visitors to pause, explore, and reflect on the importance of environmental stewardship and preserving the beauty of our natural world.

Whether they’re enjoying the trails or discovering unique works of art, our residents continue to embrace every opportunity to stay active, curious, and connected. We love seeing where their next adventure will take them!

Every line, every crease, every mark… earned.

These hands have known hard work, deep love, quiet sacrifice, and moments no one else ever saw. They’ve held babies, wiped tears, buried loved ones, built homes, and let go when they had to. Time didn’t take from them; it wrote on them.

This project isn’t just about photographs. It’s about honoring lives that were lived fully, even in the smallest, unseen ways. It’s about remembering that behind every wrinkle is a story, and behind every story is a person who mattered… and still does.

Look closely. You’re not just seeing hands… you’re witnessing a lifetime.

Thank you MCTea Photography for capturing these photos for us.

Milestones like these give us a chance to pause and appreciate the people who make Twin Lakes Community so special.

Today, we’re honoring Brittany, our Sales and Marketing Coordinator, for five years of dedication, kindness, and commitment. Her work touches so many, and we’re grateful to have her as part of our team.

Our recent NuStep‑A‑Thon brought residents and staff together with one shared goal: to support Parkinson’s Awareness Month and highlight the power of exercise in managing Parkinson’s disease.
Regular physical activity is essential for maintaining strength, balance, mobility, and confidence, and Twin Lakes is committed to supporting that journey through our wellness program—including a boxing class specifically designed for individuals with Parkinson’s disease.
We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who participated - totaling 77,200 steps - and helped raise awareness. Together, we’re making movement meaningful.

Fresh air, beautiful views, and great company - what more could you ask for?

Our residents recently enjoyed a hike at Cane Creek Mountains Natural Area, taking in the scenic trails, peaceful surroundings, and early signs of the season changing. From gentle stretches along the path to moments spent simply soaking in the beauty, it was a day well spent together. Opportunities like these are just one of the many ways our residents stay active, connected, and engaged with the world around them. We’re grateful for days like this - and the memories made along the way!

Life-Wise™ is a Twin Lakes senior advocacy program designed to assist and inform individuals considering a move to a CCRC but it also aims to provide ongoing education to residents of Twin Lakes Community. Recently, through this program, we were honored to welcome Dr. Todd Cohen, Associate Professor in the Department of Neurology and the Neuroscience Center at UNC-Chapel Hill, who shared a compelling presentation on “Alzheimer’s Disease: What’s Hurting Us in the Environment and New Therapies on the Horizon.”

Residents appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the latest research, gain a deeper understanding of environmental factors, and explore promising advancements in treatment. Programs like Life-Wise™ continue to bring meaningful, thought-provoking conversations to our community—and we are so grateful to our speakers who make that possible.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this engaging session!

A mom and her 13 little babies were on a mission, circling our buildings trying to find their way to the water. After a little teamwork, we opened up two doorways to give them a clear path… and it worked! Watching them waddle through safely was the sweetest moment!

Just another day at Twin Lakes where you never know what kind of adventure is waiting around the corner. Life here is always interesting—and full of heart.

There's not much better than celebrating generosity—together.

Last week, residents and staff came together for a special party honoring the group that collected the most donations during our annual Souper Bowl Food Drive! Thanks to their incredible efforts (and the kindness of so many across our community), we were able to gather a tremendous amount of food to support our Employee Food Pantry as well as other food ministries in the broader community.

This event is always a favorite, not just because of the friendly competition, but because it reflects what makes our community so special—people coming together to care for one another in meaningful ways.

To everyone who contributed, donated, sorted, and supported—thank you. Your generosity truly makes a difference!

Recently, Coble Creek Healthcare and Rehabilitation at Twin Lakes was filled with laughter, bright colors, and the sweetest little visitors!

We had a wonderful group of daycare children join us for a fun-filled Easter egg hunt across our courtyards, followed by a special craft time with our residents. From tiny hands gathering eggs to shared smiles and creativity at the craft tables, it was a beautiful day! We cherish intergenerational activities; they bring joy, energy, and meaningful friendships to both our residents and our young guests.

Thank you to our little friends for making this time so memorable—we can’t wait to have you back again soon!

What a match! Our chair volleyball showdown between staff and residents brought the energy, the laughs, and just the right amount of friendly competition. Both teams gave it their all, with incredible teamwork and plenty of great saves on both sides!

In the end, staff edged out a win with a final score of 15–13—but honestly, everyone walked away a winner after such a fun and spirited game.

Moments like these are what make life at Twin Lakes Community so special!
