📣 This Week’s Speaker 📣

This Friday, we’re thrilled to welcome the one, the only Kevin M.!

Kevin is a guide here at Discovery Place and a vital part of our community. The 12 Step program tells us to practice spiritual principles with enthusiasm — and there’s nobody who does that better than Kevin.

He’s helped hundreds of men find a path to recovery and continues to lead by example with kindness, energy, and faith. Most of all, he’s our dear friend, and we can’t wait to hear him share his story.

Step 11: “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him…”

Step 11 reminds us that recovery is a daily spiritual practice. It’s about quieting the noise, seeking guidance, and staying grounded in gratitude and awareness. As we move through November, this step encourages us to slow down and reconnect with ourselves, with others, and with the Higher Power that guides us.

From our Program Director, Adam L.:
“Meditation, over time, has taught me patience and the practice of being still, no matter what’s happening around me. We drink and use to avoid reality, but meditation and prayer allow me to experience it fully. Step 11 invites me to be present, to connect with God as I understand Him, and to simply be where I am.”

Recovery isn’t just about removing the things that held us back. It’s about building a relationship with something greater that keeps us moving forward.

Chef Craig and our Recovery Kitchen staff are serving up another incredible meal. Today’s feature is an adobo chicken smothered burrito with ranchero beans, Spanish rice, and a side of chips with queso.

At Discovery Place, we believe good food is part of good recovery. Meals like this remind us that community, connection, and nourishment all play a role in healing and living sober.
