A lot of people hesitate because they’re afraid of being wrong, making things worse, or pushing too hard. That hesitation is human. But recognizing these signs is often less about confrontation and more about honesty with yourself and with the situation.

If something here feels familiar, it might be time to ask a question, start a conversation, or reach out for guidance.

We’re here when you’re ready.

This morning Asher spent time at a local sober living house leading discussion around recovery and real world challenges they’re are navigating right now.

Honest conversation, practical insight, and shared experience are all things that keep recovery connected beyond treatment.

Merry Christmas from Lake Cumberland Recovery.

Today looks a little different for our team. While many people are home with family, some of our staff are here preparing meals, answering calls, checking in, and making sure the day stays steady for the people in our care.

There’s nothing flashy about that kind of work. It’s quiet, consistent, and important. And it happens because the people on this team care deeply about showing up when it matters.

We’re thankful for the staff who are here today, for the residents who continue doing the work even on holidays, and for the families who place their trust in us.

However this day finds you, we hope it brings calm, connection, and a moment to breathe.

This group finished treatment during a week when most people are focused on gifts, plans, and what’s under the tree.

They chose something harder to wrap and easier to carry forward.

They chose to show up when it would’ve been simpler to coast.
To stay present when it would’ve been easier to drift.
To take responsibility for their future without needing applause for it.

For their families and friends, it means more honesty and more consistency.
For themselves, it means walking into the next season with a clearer head and a steadier footing.

We’re proud of the work they put in and the direction they’re heading.

Congratulations to this week’s graduates.
What you’ve started here will continue to bring you gifts long after the holidays pass.

The holidays can bring a lot of memories some good, some complicated.
Recovery doesn’t make everything perfect, but it makes it possible to show up clear headed, present, and connected.

These are the days where laughter feels real.
Where conversations don’t get lost.
Where moments don’t have to be numbed or escaped.

These are the days we got sober for.

The holidays don’t feel joyful for everyone.
For a lot of people, they bring stress, grief, loneliness, or pressure to hold it together.

If this season feels heavy, you’re not broken. You’re human.
And you don’t have to carry it alone.

We’re here. Always.

We want to say thank you to Brodhead Elementary School for such a thoughtful act of kindness. The students took the time to make 200 Christmas cards for our clients here at Lake Cumberland Recovery.

These cards will bring smiles, laughs, and a lot of quiet moments where people just sat and read the words written to them. For some of our clients, it may have been the first piece of holiday cheer they have received in a long time.

It means a lot to know that kids took the time to think about people they may never meet, and chose kindness anyway. That kind of effort does not go unnoticed here.

We appreciate the students, staff, and everyone who helped make this happen. Your kindness reached farther than you know.

We are incredibly proud of Jessica Johnson Renner, who was recently invited to appear on the Chevy Chase Morning Talk Show on FOX 56 to share her story and the journey that led to her being nominated for Remarkable Woman of the Year 2025.

Jessica spoke openly about her path, the work she is passionate about, and the importance of hope, recovery, and showing up for others. We appreciate her using that platform to highlight the work happening here and the impact it has on individuals, families, and the community.

Opportunities like this to talk openly about recovery helps reduce stigma and reminds people that change is possible. We are thankful for her voice, her leadership, and the way she represents our mission in all aspects of her life. She is living proof that we do recover!
