Complex PTSD doesnât always look like what people expect.
It can show up in the body long after the situation is overâthrough feeling on edge, shutting down, emotional overwhelm that seems to come out of nowhere, or difficulty trusting that safety is real.
Many adults with complex trauma donât just struggle with âmemories.â They struggle with nervous system responses that learned how to survive in environments where safety was inconsistent or unpredictable.
In therapy, we donât try to rush past that.
Art therapy offers a different entry point. Instead of forcing words for experiences that feel overwhelming or hard to name, we slow down. We use image, color, and expression to help the nervous system communicate in a way that feels safer and more contained.
There is no pressure to tell your story perfectly here.
We listen to what shows upâvisually, emotionally, and somaticallyâand we work gently from there.
Healing doesnât start with pushing through.
It starts with safety, pace, and enough space for your system to settle.
If youâve ever felt like your reactions are âtoo muchâ or âdonât make sense,â youâre not aloneâand there is a way to work with that gently.
