When you earn Board Certification, the letters behind your name show that you’ve earned a credential that is credible, respected, and recognized for excellence.

Board Certification in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (BCTMB) is verified by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). This means that NCBTMB’s credentialing program meets rigorous, independent standards for how certifications are developed, administered, and maintained.

As the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB), it’s important we keep this conversation grounded in accurate governance understanding.

NCBTMB operates as an independent credentialing organization and aligns its certification programs with National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) standards, which are designed to ensure fairness, validity, and independence in credentialing.

References in bylaws — such as the role of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) — reflect structure, not control over certification standards or professional decision-making. Our commitment to independence in all certification decisions was confirmed during our recent NCCA review, and our relationship with AMTA meets all requirements.
