My mom adopted me after I was abandoned on her doorstep — 25 years later, when I became successful, my biological mother showed up.
When my mom was young, she was in an accident that left her paralyzed from the waist down. Doctors told her she'd never walk again — and that she'd never be able to have children.
But 25 years ago, she heard crying outside her front door and found a newborn baby girl there — me.
There was only a baby carrier and a handwritten note saying I'd been abandoned.
She didn't hesitate for long. She adopted me right away, even though everyone around her tried to talk her out of it. A single woman, permanently in a wheelchair — no one believed she could do it.
But my mom was there for me every step of the way. It was always just the two of us. She came to all my school performances, took me to dance classes, and cried when I graduated from college.
She is my entire world.
While I was still in college, a friend and I started designing T-shirts. Over the years, it grew into a large clothing brand. After graduation, I even bought myself a car. My mom hugged me and cried with pride.
One morning, as I was leaving the house to go to the office, I saw a woman standing on our porch, just about to knock on the door.
She looked to be around fifty, wearing a coat. She smiled and said,
"Hi, sweetheart. I know you don't remember me, but I'm your biological mother — the one who gave birth to you."
My stomach dropped.
Without waiting for me to respond, she kept talking, a confident look on her face.
"SWEETHEART, YOU DO REALIZE THAT WITHOUT ME, YOU WOULDN'T HAVE ANY SUCCESS, RIGHT? I'M THE ONE WHO MADE SURE YOU WERE RAISED BY THIS WOMAN SO YOU'D TURN OUT WELL. I ONLY NEED HALF OF YOUR BUSINESS — THAT'S FAIR."
Rage boiled inside me, and I wanted to say everything I thought of her right then and there.
But in that moment, a plan formed in my mind.
This woman abandoned me — and now she wanted my money? Oh no.
I smiled and said,
"Of course, you're right. But there's ONE condition." ⬇️
