Last night your child watched the movie The Emperor’s New Groove. They then discussed how Jesus wants us to put the needs of others first and be willing to serve. We can’t do that if we’re rude or full of pride. The emperor learned that it’s our inside that counts, but not until he was humbled by being turned into a llama. After the movie, your child practiced this by serving others.

Key verse: Psalm 25:9

Parents – Tell your child about a time someone served you when you really needed help. Describe how valuable the person’s service was to you. Explain that being humble also means asking for help when we need it and that God sends others to help us. Ask your child about their favorite way to serve others.

If you find yourself in a season where it feels like all you can do is hold onto God’s promises… here’s a few that you can lean on today.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

“It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” Deuteronomy 31:8

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” Psalm 32:8

“And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7

People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care. How can you choose to love others today?

Thanks Stacey for last night's teaching!! What was your big takeaway?

Before we can truly find healing from our hurts, habits, and hang-ups we need to be willing to TURN our lives over to God. Have you accepted Jesus? Are you ready to start letting go and allowing God to control all of the things that have become uncontrollable?

Last night your child learned that even faith as small as a mustard seed is enough for God to move the mountains in your child’s life. When change is slow, children might begin to doubt whether they can put their hope in God. They discovered that God provides evidence of his existence everywhere, from nature to newborn babies.

Key verse: Matthew 5:4

Parents – Share about a time you doubted a path you were following. How did you find your way? Then talk to your child about how you’re putting your faith in God to help you find your way in life. Describe some of the signs you’ve noticed of God working in your life and how those signs are giving you hope. Ask your child what signs of God they have noticed lately.
