Following an in-depth evaluation of some of the nation’s most promising research, the CHD Coalition is proud to champion the following three proposals.

Together, they represent a powerful opportunity to transform long-term care for individuals born with congenital heart defects. ✨❤

👉 University Wisconsin-Madison: “10-Minute Cardiac MRI”

This project could revolutionize heart imaging for children with CHD, eliminating the need for long, stressful MRI exams and anesthesia. A single 10-minute scan would make cardiac MRI safer, faster, and more accessible, while improving diagnostic accuracy and reducing costs for families and hospitals alike.

👉 Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center: “Aortic Valve Neocuspidization”

Traditional valve replacements fail to grow with the child. This groundbreaking study proposes a surgical technique that reconstructs the aortic valve using a child’s own artery tissue, which would create living and growing aortic valve, reducing the need for future surgeries and improving long-term outcomes.

👉 Boston Children’s Hospital: “RESIST-ACHD”

This study examines whether aspirin resistance causes early degeneration of bioprosthetic heart valves in adults with congenital heart disease (ACHD).

The CHD Coalition is thrilled to announce that we will be funding three CHD research grants totaling $150,000! 👏👏 This incredible milestone is only possible thanks to the overwhelming success of our CHD Walk for Hope and the amazing support of our community. ❤

Our Research Committee carefully evaluated 15 studies from 10 leading institutions across the United States, and the three selected projects show extraordinary promise. Each one has the potential to significantly advance treatments, improve procedures, and enhance long-term outcomes for people living with congenital heart defects. We can’t wait to share more details soon!

Meet Andrea, who shared some wonderful news. Her grandson, after waiting so long, finally received his heart transplant last month… and today, they’re heading home! 🏡🌟

Our Hospital Outreach Coordinator, Cathy, recently visited NYP–Morgan Stanley Children’s Hospital in New York City. This is 1 of the 8 pediatric hospitals that we service in NY/NJ.
