This Saturday (April 25th, 2026) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Harrisonville Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) will give the public an opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs.

Bring medications for disposal to CVS at 300 S Commercial St. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked.

For everyone's safety, please remember that the following cannot be accepted:

❎ Needles (including insulin and allergy pens)
❎ Sharp Objects
❎ Liquids and lotions
❎ Inhalers
❎ Aerosol Cans

To dispose of liquid medications, mix with cat litter and throw away.
To dispose of sharps, place them in a laundry detergent bottle, tape the lid closed, and mark "sharps" on the outside.

These restrictions help to maintain a safe environment for both the public and our employees. Thank you for helping us keep our community safe!

Severe weather is going to move in to Bates County starting around 4pm today. Please be weather aware. If you have neighbors that you are concerned about please make arrangements and plans for their safety now.

If you don’t know where a tornado shelter is then you have 5 hours to call your local governing body to get gain that information.

The Sheriffs Office is not in charge of opening storm shelters. Almost all Shelters are privately owned and ran so now is the time to check to see who is open.

Please be safe and know that we are prepared for any response that would be required of the community

🥕 What Is a Mobile Pantry?
If you’ve ever wondered how our mobile pantry works—or who can come—here’s a quick, friendly guide!

A mobile pantry is a pop‑up food distribution designed to bring fresh, healthy food directly to communities. Instead of neighbors coming to our main pantry, we bring the food to them. It’s fast, simple, and open to anyone in need.

🚚 Where & When You Can Find Ours
We host two mobile pantries each month in partnership with Harvesters Food Bank:

Amsterdam Mobile Pantry
📅 Second Thursday of each month
🚗 Drive‑up style
🕤 9:30–10:30 AM (or until boxes run out)

Butler Mobile Pantry
📅 Fourth Tuesday of each month
🏠 Held at the north clubhouse at Butler Meadows apartments
🕤 9:30–10:30 AM (or until boxes run out)

🥬 What We Provide
Each household receives one box of fresh produce, packed with seasonal fruits and vegetables. These boxes come straight from Harvesters and are meant to help stretch your grocery budget with nutritious options.

📝 What We Ask
Just a bit of basic information—no income requirements, no lengthy forms.
Mobile pantries are open to all Bates County residents.

❤️ Why It Matters
Mobile pantries help us reach neighbors where they are, making sure everyone in our community has access to fresh, healthy food. Whether you’re picking up for yourself or helping a family member, we’re here to support you.

If you know someone who could use this resource, please share this post and help spread the word. Together, we make sure no neighbor goes without.
