Last night, Bates County Memorial Hospital hosted Breathe for Bre who partnered with our EMS Supervisor, Russ Whisenand, Paramedic, to provide a free Narcan training.
Participants learned how to administer nasal Narcan and received free Narcan kits provided by Breathe for Bre.
Breathe for Bre was founded in memory of Breahnna Grosko, 25, who tragically lost her life, and her unborn child, to a drug overdose in 2022. In the wake of this devastating loss, Bre’s stepmom, Kristina, turned her grief into purpose. Together with her husband and friends, she created Breathe for Bre to save lives through overdose prevention, education, and free Naloxone distribution — because no one should face an overdose crisis alone.
Kristina shared,
“Breathe for Bre is working to break the stigmas of addiction in our community. Addiction does not discriminate. We also focus on the community that addiction affects; the friends, family, and loved ones of the people who are struggling with opioid use. We are not just looking at addiction, we are looking at prescription use, we are looking at accidental ingestion, we are looking at our children and the elderly. We are providing education, overdose awareness and prevention, along with harm reduction. We want to just start the conversation and empower people in our community to feel equipped to respond to an overdose crisis. Breathe for Bre is working to save lives-one breath at a time.”
We thank the Breathe for Bre team for bringing this crucial training to our community and applaud their mission, compassion, and commitment to saving lives. 💜
