Gluten is a protein found in wheat, rye, and barley that those with celiac disease must avoid gluten to prevent damage to the lower intestine. ⁣
⁣
It's not an allergy, but an autoimmune condition. There's no cure, and if undiagnosed it can lead to other serious health problems too. So avoiding gluten is their necessary way of life.
