Mark your calendar..........We are about two weeks away from Partners In Prevention: Because Your Health is Our Mission!

Prevention is essential for Veterans because it helps reduce the risk of illnesses and injuries before they occur—saving lives and lessening future health care costs. Proactive preventive care and healthy lifestyle choices can reduce the risk of chronic conditions, such as those linked to to***co use, leading to longer, healthier lives. By encouraging early detection, providing health education, and building strong Veteran communities, prevention supports the well-being and resilience of those who have served our nation.

We hope to see you on May 7!

VA Golden Age Games began in 1985, long before “senior athletics” was a mainstream idea. VA recognized that aging Veterans needed more than medical care. They also needed motivation, goals, and a sense of connection. So, the Games were born with just a few hundred competitors.
Today, they’ve grown into a major event where thousands of athletes and supporters from across the country come to take part. It is a living tribute to the fact that service continues after age 50 and that strength can last a lifetime.

The Veterans Health Administration is marking 80 years of supporting Veterans of all ages and abilities just like the Golden Age Game athletes. Learn more.

We’re celebrating Whole Health Month, and today we’re honored to share another inspiring Veteran story.

Army Veteran Mike Johnson shares how the Whole Health approach has helped him refocus on self‑improvement and well‑being.

“I heard the Butler VA had an excellent Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Program. Through that, I was introduced to Whole Health and began walking the Circle of Health. I use the Wellness Center several times a week, and I really enjoy the Spin Class. I can’t run anymore, so this class helps me stay active. I’m learning to take better care of myself by practicing self‑care techniques. It’s been a little challenging keeping my mental health in check, but I’m working on it. Goal setting has really helped me focus on what matters most. I encourage all Veterans to take advantage of the programs offered through Whole Health to stay motivated and determined.”

The Butler VA provides Veterans with free access to a state‑of‑the‑art Wellness Center (gym). Veterans can also work with a Personal Trainer on Mondays and Tuesdays and take advantage of a variety of free fitness classes at the VA and the Butler YMCA Monday through Friday. For more information about the Wellness Center and available classes, call 878‑27‑6484.
