Things I notice about you as a massage therapist.
Part 2.
Temperature difference in your tissues. This is a great indication of blood flow but also helps me determine if the area has an emotional charge. You are an energetic being and your body is extremely intelligent. Your tissues remember how you felt during every experience in your life. Even if your conscious mind has long forgotten.
Physical responses to my touch. If you’ve ever been on my table then you know that my pressure changes frequently. This is because I’m constantly checking to see how your muscles ( and breath) are responding to different types of pressure. Most bodies prefer to be in ease rather than tension. Forcing an already tight muscle to be in even more tension can make the situation worse. (Not always though, that’s why it’s important to watch for physical responses)
Emotional responses. These can range between being super heavy in the moment or being very subtle. That really depends on how comfortable you feel in my space and how willing you are to let go. I see the biggest emotional responses when I do visceral manipulation. The organs can tell you so much about a person and to the trained hand, they can also guide you to the area that needs the most attention.
Lastly, I notice your energy when you come out of the treatment room. Are you tired? Are your eyes sparkly? Chakras bright and glowing? All these things can tell me how I’m going to approach your next session. It’s important to note that all responses are messages from your body that are worth listening to. For instance, if you feel very tired after your session it could be because your body wants you to rest.
