Things I notice about you as a massage therapist.
Part 2.

Temperature difference in your tissues. This is a great indication of blood flow but also helps me determine if the area has an emotional charge. You are an energetic being and your body is extremely intelligent. Your tissues remember how you felt during every experience in your life. Even if your conscious mind has long forgotten.

Physical responses to my touch. If you’ve ever been on my table then you know that my pressure changes frequently. This is because I’m constantly checking to see how your muscles ( and breath) are responding to different types of pressure. Most bodies prefer to be in ease rather than tension. Forcing an already tight muscle to be in even more tension can make the situation worse. (Not always though, that’s why it’s important to watch for physical responses)

Emotional responses. These can range between being super heavy in the moment or being very subtle. That really depends on how comfortable you feel in my space and how willing you are to let go. I see the biggest emotional responses when I do visceral manipulation. The organs can tell you so much about a person and to the trained hand, they can also guide you to the area that needs the most attention.

Lastly, I notice your energy when you come out of the treatment room. Are you tired? Are your eyes sparkly? Chakras bright and glowing? All these things can tell me how I’m going to approach your next session. It’s important to note that all responses are messages from your body that are worth listening to. For instance, if you feel very tired after your session it could be because your body wants you to rest.

Things I notice about you as a massage therapist.
Part 1

The body doesn’t lie. So here are some things I notice about you when you walk into my office.

First I notice your energy when you come in. Is it cloudy? Is it vibrant? Sometimes when we have a lot going on our energy is scattered and we are not fully grounded within ourselves.

Next I notice your posture. I notice what side of your shoulder is carrying a bag and which hand is holding your phone. (If you have those items of course) I may even ask to stand in front of you so I can look at how you’re standing and if there is any uneven weight distribution on any of the planes of your body.

When you are on the table I notice how your body looks while lying down. Are your hips even? Are your shoulders scrunched up to your ears? Is there a sway down the midline of your body?

During your massage I notice and pay close attention to your breath. The breath is a great indicator of your nervous system response. If your breath is really shallow it could be a sign that you are in a sympathetic state. (Fight or flight) The goal is to get you into a parasympathetic state (rest and digest) because you will receive the bodywork much better and the results will likely last longer.

🍂 Just a reminder that my price increase takes effect November 1st. 🍂
The new prices have been posted in my office since the beginning of October.

I’ll also be switching my booking app over to a different one and I’m considering opening the online booking. Ya’ll know I’m not really a fan of online booking so this may or may not happen. LOL

Thank you everyone for all your support and kindness!

I will no longer accept “Can I Venmo you later?” or anything similar to that. Your payment is due at the end of your session. PERIOD.

If you don’t have the funds to pay for your appointment then reschedule your appointment with the 24 hour notice that’s in my policy.

This is simple common courtesy. Thanks for your understanding! 🤍🤍🤍

Welcome fall! 🍁

Here are some changes I made for the fall.

New hours are Tuesday through Friday. Actual hours in office will vary. But please remember that I am by appointment ONLY.

There will be a slight increase in prices. I try hard to be within the states standard price range and since last year.. I’m currently below.

Booking a full reiki session without massage will no longer be available. You get energy work in your massage anyways. So there is no need to do them separately. If you do want just a reiki session then i will refer you to my amazing office mate, Monica.

I’ve had quite a few offers from other professionals who are interested in doing collaborations. Let me just make this clear… my answer will always be NO if you ask me to collab with a highlight on my artwork or reiki. I am a MASSAGE THERAPIST first and foremost. And I’ve spend thousands of hours and dollars expanding my skills as a massage therapist. I won’t collab with anyone who disregards that.

Phew! Now that thats outta the way.. I’m so happy to be back in my office and working! I still have a few spots open for October so please reach out if you are interested! 🧡

I am a one woman show.
In order to get on my table you MUST make an appointment.

I do not take walk-ins and it is highly unlikely that I’ll ever have space for a same day appointment. (Especially if you are a new client)

I only move people up in the schedule if you are already on the schedule. So if you call and want in that day.. but won’t commit to making an appointment for a day I have available. Then you won’t be moved to an earlier spot if one becomes available.

I don’t have a cancellation list and I won’t cold call you if something becomes available if you aren’t already on the schedule.

I do my best to work with everybody’s schedule so I ask that you be patient when it comes to mine. ☺️💙

💛 Lymphatic drainage massage 💛

I wanna start out by saying that my studies into lymphatic drainage are far from over. There are many different techniques when it comes to lymphatic drainage. They all share basically the same goal but the application itself can be quite different.
This course was very different from what I learned in school and also different from what I learned in oncology massage.

The technique I studied in this course was the Vodder technique.

The lymphatic system is an extension of the circulatory system. It plays an important role in fluid balancing, waste removal, and immune function.
Unlike the circulatory system aka your heart, arteries, veins, and capillaries.
Your lymphatic system does not have a pump like the heart. It relies a lot on breathing, muscle contractions, and gravity for optimal movement.

Lymphatic drainage massage is so gentle and so relaxing. It can help with swelling, boosting your immune system, reducing stress, and compliments oncology massage beautifully.

If you are interested in lymphatic drainage massage then please know that it’s probably unlike any massage you’ve ever had before. It’s an extremely light touch and very repetitive. But also extremely effective for so many ailments you might have!

Please reach out to me with any questions you might have and also stay tuned for more fun new announcements! 🤗💙

❤️‍🩹 Oncology massage ❤️‍🩹

This continuing education course was far more valuable than I ever expected. My greatest inspirations have always come from the amazing people I get to meet.

Oncology massage is extremely gentle and tailored to your specific cancer treatment plan. There are A LOT of things to consider when it comes to massage and cancer.

It is extremely important as a massage therapist to know exactly what those considerations are in order to not interfere with your treatment plan, medications, and for your safety. It’s also very important for you as the client to be as honest as possible with your massage therapist.

The goal of oncology massage is to improve your quality of life, reduce pain and anxiety, and provide emotional support in this challenging time.

Blu Agate Wellness is now better equipped to be apart of your cancer treatment plan and work with your medical team in unison. Whether it be during, after, or even end of life care. I’m here to offer my support and would be honored to be apart of the team. ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

Here’s the latest news from Blu Agate Wellness 💙

Just a reminder, I will be in Europe for the majority of September. I still have some spaces available in August so make sure you snag your spot before it’s gone!

I’m also booking for October so if you can’t make it in August then hop on the schedule for October. 😄

Late August is when my schedule returns to full time. So I’ll be available M-F again! 🥳

I’ve also been working hard on 2 new continuing education certifications that I feel will really elevate my skills and I look forward to sharing them with you guys soon!
(More certificates for the wall LOL)

Of course there is a boatload more classes that I have scheduled in the near and far future. You guys know me 😆🤓📖🧠

As always, I am so very grateful for every single person who has ever trusted me with their body, promoted my small business, or has just reached out to ask me questions about my practice. You guys are my greatest inspiration! 💙

Let’s just get one thing straight here…

As a small business owner and a massage therapist I get so many questions. Which I absolutely love answering btw! (Ask away!)
There is one specific question that I get asked all of the time and I dislike the question but I love to answer it. Simply because it’s a perspective twist that I think we all need.

The question is: “So how busy are you?”

This question ruffles my feathers only because we live in a world where hustle, over performance, and competition are rewarded. We wear “burnt out business owner” badges like killing our mental, physical, and emotional health over our job…is something to be proud of.

I heavily disagree.

My response to this question is:
I don’t work to be busy.

“Busy” doesn’t equal success if the busyness means you are neglecting your own needs. Feeling frazzled all the time. Not sleeping well. Or not enjoying this beautiful life you’ve been given.

We should really be judging success on how good we feel each day we come to work.. How happy we are to be there... And how much we enjoy the service we are providing.

It’s not about how busy you are, the google reviews, the 5 stars, the money, or the popularity.

It’s about the amount of joy we feel from doing what we do.. the inspiration we get from our clients.. the confidence we receive when we are able to navigate the things that challenge us.. and that warm feeling in our hearts when we know that we made a positive impact on someone’s life.

This is how I choose to view success. 🩵
