Planning ahead is one of the most meaningful ways to care for yourself—and for the people who love you.

This National Healthcare Decisions Day, we encourage you to take time to think about your wishes for future medical care and have conversations with those closest to you. Advance care planning helps ensure your voice is heard, even if you’re unable to speak for yourself.

It can be as simple as choosing a trusted decision-maker, completing an advance directive, or starting the conversation with your family.

Our caregivers are here to support you every step of the way—because your choices matter, and your care should reflect what matters most to you.

Sharing what works makes all the difference. 💙 At the Wyoming Diabetes Summit in Casper earlier this month, Intermountain Health caregivers Ida Reighard, RN, CDCES, (second from the left) and Liane Vadheim, RD, LN, (far left) joined peers from across the region to talk openly about what it really takes to prevent diabetes.

Their session focused on practical real‑world strategies, from building strong partnerships to supporting people for the long term. By sharing lessons learned and learning from others, they helped strengthen diabetes prevention efforts far beyond our own communities.

That kind of collaboration helps all of us better support people at risk for diabetes today and into the future.

💚 Throwback Thursday with a life-saving reminder 💚

This , during , we’re reflecting on a powerful story of siblings, sacrifice and hope.

St. James caregiver Desiree Phillips and her brother Kyle Isakson have always had each other’s backs. When Desiree’s kidney disease progressed and dialysis became part of her daily life, Kyle stepped in committed to doing whatever it took to help his sister get a second chance.

After months of testing, lifestyle changes and overcoming his own health challenges, Kyle learned he wasn’t a direct match. But he didn’t stop there. By donating his kidney through a paired exchange, Kyle helped make it possible for Desiree to receive a new kidney sooner, while his donation saved another life across the country.

Today, Desiree’s kidney is thriving, Kyle is back to doing what he loves, and their bond is stronger than ever (with a sense of humor intact).

Stories like theirs remind us that organ donation isn’t just a gift, it’s a ripple of hope.

A small act. A big impact. 💚

This spring, our caregivers came together with generous hearts for our annual Spring Food Drive, and it made a real difference. Thanks to the kindness of the St. James Hospital community, about 500 grab‑and‑go snacks were donated to Action Inc., helping nourish neighbors facing housing and food insecurity.

Each snack was more than a donation, it was a moment of compassion, dignity, and care. Together, we’re living our mission by supporting those who need it most and showing how powerful small acts can be when we come together.

👉 Want to help? Consider donating grab‑and‑go snacks to Action Inc.

To celebrate Doctor’s Day, we asked local elementary school kids what they think doctors do—and their answers say it all. From healing hearts to saving the day, it’s clear our doctors are everyday heroes in the eyes of our youngest community members.

Huge thanks to Dr. Brenna Fanning and Dr. Kellee Glaus for bringing these sweet, honest responses to life on camera and for the care they provide to families across southwest Montana every day.

Today, and always, we’re grateful for our doctors and the difference they make—seen through the eyes of kids and felt throughout our community. 🩺✨
