WHAT IS TMS?

TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) is a non-pharmacological therapy recommended by the American Psychiatric Association since 2010 for treating Major Depressive Disorder.⁠

During treatment, magnetic pulses are delivered through a coil to stimulate nerve cells in the brain areas that regulate mood. Repeated stimulation of these regions can have an antidepressant effect on those with Major Depressive Disorder.⁠
⁠
Each session lasts about 30 minutes on average. Since TMS is non-invasive, it doesn't require anesthesia, doesn't affect cognitive function, and has no systemic side effects.
